Newsweek is looking to rapidly to enhance loyalty among the millions of unique visitors who visit the brand each month. 

The team is seeking a data-driven lifecycle strategist that has technical knowledge and passion for lifecycle marketing and data architecture.    

The strategist will work with content and audience teams to identify and build audience segments and create campaigns that address readers where they are on their journey with the brand.  

The ideal candidate can comb through data for true insights – and have a pulse on the metrics that will move the needle for the business.  

Candidates should have a combination of data analysis and email marketing experience as well as a keen interest in maximizing the contribution of newsletters to audience acquisition and conversion for the Newsweek brand.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Email Marketing and Automation: 3-5 years of experience in email marketing analysis, CRM marketing, or marketing automation. Solid experience with customer segmentation models, predictive analytics, and utilizing ESP automation tools to create and manage workflows, drip campaigns, and lifecycle marketing efforts. Familiarity with ESP-specific languages, including SailThru and its Zephyr language, and experience with API integrations.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to mock up concepts and make email customizations using HTML and CSS. Experience with audience tools such as CRM or CDP to segment cohorts of users. Proven ability to build and maintain a database of subscribers, build list segments, manage list hygiene, deliverability, and compliance. The ability to build data pipelines for audience campaigns to nurture and grow deeply segmented and personalized audience journeys.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:  Experience building reports, managing dashboards, and generating deep insights through audience data. Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, while also a demonstrated ability to be resourceful and innovative in data analysis.  
  • Campaign Execution: Proven ability to create, execute, and scale acquisition and retention campaigns. Experience A/B testing campaigns with an ESP and optimizing emails for increased click-through rates. Additionally, experience working with AI tools and data feeds for automated campaigns.
  • Design and Teamwork: Basic design capabilities, including mocking up concepts and making quick customizations with HTML and CSS. This person will function as part of an energetic team, contributing ideas, hands-on work, and execution to deliver fast, functional campaigns.
  • Curiosity and Adaptability: Above all, curiosity and the ability to scale and grow in a fast-moving new environment. 

Preferred additional qualifications: 

  • Nice to have: JavaScript and SQL knowledge. Additional programming languages a plus.  
  • Strong cross-functional teamwork: We want a problem solver that is highly organized and will get things done in a team environment.  
  • Proactive work ethic: Ability to be strategic and work effectively, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.  

 

Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000
