Position Overview:

As a Sr. Lens Innovation Manager, you will play a role in shaping the future of the Zenni Optical’s product lines. You will collaborate on a team of 8 individuals to develop and execute optical product technologies.  Reporting to the AVP, Optical Product, you will be interfacing with our internal R&D teams, manufacturing, brand/marketing, and vendors.  You will be responsible for collaborating on the launch of new products and continuously refining our existing product catalogs, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the eyewear industry.  The ideal candidate has experience with the latest eyewear lens technologies and can infuse clinical insights to solidify our standing in the optical marketplace.

What We Want You to Own in this Role

  • Optical Product Development [Lens]: Assist in the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, including leading discovery, drafting product briefs, conducting testing, and working with R&D and manufacturing teams to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Lens Product Lifecycle Management: Own and manage lens roadmap recommendations, pricing strategy, cost optimization efforts with Procurement & Manufacturing and positioning on the Zenni ecommerce platform.
  • Optical Product Strategy [Lens]: Support the development and execution of optical product strategy that aligns with company goals and market trends. Contribute to innovation in eyewear lenses by applying technical and optical market expertise.
  • Optical Product Development [Lens]: Assist in the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, including leading discovery, drafting product briefs, conducting testing, and working with manufacturing teams to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high product quality by contributing to testing protocols, quality control processes, and compliance with regulatory standards and customer expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across manufacturing, marketing, technology, and customer service to ensure product alignment with customer needs and market opportunities. Provide insights on product positioning, communications, and promotions.
  • Optical Lens Expertise: Provide insights into optical technology, patient trends, and market dynamics to help advance the company’s e-commerce platform for eyewear.
  • Product Launch Support: Collaborate with the Rx Lab on research, development, and introduction of new products. Assist with testing, gathering feedback, and supporting educational efforts for internal teams and customers.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to research, documentation, presentations, and insights on relevant optical topics to support collaboration and informed decision-making.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to optical product lines, providing data-driven insights to inform product strategy.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape insights, leveraging findings to support product development and positioning.
Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of experience in optical lens product management 
  • Ability to leverage research and emerging technologies to contribute to advancements in eyewear and eye care
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skill
  • Strong understanding of lens materials, coatings, designs and how lenses function and are processed in Rx laboratories 
  • Experience developing and launching lens products
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working for an optical lens manufacturer or Rx laboratory
  • Experience working with eyewear commerce companies
  • Understanding of optical product manufacturing processes, with the ability to assess vendor and product performance
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Thai is a plus

Compensation

In addition to other forms of compensation like perks and benefits, the estimated range for this role is $121,000 - $146,500. The final offer will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skill set, experience, geographical location, market conditions, and other organizational needs. The Company reserves the right to change, modify, or revisit the salary range for various reasons including business needs.
