Horace Mann is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver key initiatives that support business and technology objectives. In this role, you will manage multiple medium to large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with company standards, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Define and clarify project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to meet timelines and objectives.
  • Assist in the creation of business cases and project justifications.
  • Ensure all technology solutions and services meet company standards and user requirements.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Determine project team structure and define roles and responsibilities.
  • Set team direction, assign work, and motivate team members to achieve project goals.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple organizational functions to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, accountable, and results-driven team environment.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, document, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact and ensure project success.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project sponsors, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise status reports and updates to project teams and executive audiences.
  • Lead communications with steering committees and senior management to ensure transparency and alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent required: Bachelor’s preferred
  • 4–8 years of project management experience managing medium to large-scale projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Life and Employee Benefits Insurance required.
  • Strong experience working across multiple lines of business and product areas.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level communication.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or coursework in Project Management (e.g., CAPM, PMP) preferred.
  • Experience working in technology-driven environments or IT project delivery.

Additional Information

  • Normal office environment.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Ongoing education in Project/Program Management is encouraged and supported.

Pay Range:

  • $89,800.00 - $125,500.00/annually 

Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
