About the Role

Preference will be given to candidates residing in California or the Southwest United States due to the geographic focus of this work and travel requirements.

The Senior Improvement Advisor provides advanced consultation, technical assistance, education, and project leadership to healthcare organizations seeking to improve quality, safety, and health outcomes. Working collaboratively with healthcare leaders, clinicians, and community partners, the Senior Improvement Advisor applies quality improvement science, implementation methods, and change management strategies to support healthcare organizations in achieving measurable and sustainable improvements in quality, safety, patient experience, and health outcomes.

This position is part of Comagine Health's American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) program and primarily supports Tribal, Indian Health Service (IHS), and Urban Indian healthcare organizations across California and the Southwest United States. The role requires building trusted relationships while supporting healthcare improvement efforts that honor the unique strengths, priorities, and cultures of the communities served.

Success in this role requires the ability to facilitate organizational change, lead healthcare quality improvement activities, and support healthcare transformation efforts within complex healthcare environments.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Tribal, Indian Health Service (IHS), and Urban Indian healthcare organizations to improve quality, safety, patient experience, and health outcomes.
  • Lead healthcare quality improvement initiatives using improvement science, data-driven decision making, and change management strategies.
  • Provide coaching, technical assistance, facilitation, and education to support implementation and sustainability of improvement efforts.
  • Build trusted relationships with healthcare leaders, clinicians, quality staff, Tribal leaders, and community partners.
  • Guide project planning, implementation, documentation, reporting, and contract deliverables across multiple initiatives.
  • Analyze performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and support organizations in achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute subject matter expertise in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, and healthcare transformation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred. Relevant experience in healthcare quality, clinical leadership, healthcare operations, performance improvement, implementation, or related healthcare fields may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • 7+ years of experience leading or supporting healthcare quality improvement, clinical operations, patient safety, performance improvement, accreditation, health system transformation, or related healthcare initiatives.
  • Experience facilitating organizational change and healthcare transformation within complex healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting reporting, documentation, and contract deliverable requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience working with Tribal, Indian Health Service (IHS), or Urban Indian healthcare organizations.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Lean, Six Sigma, IHI, or other quality improvement certification.
  • Experience providing coaching, technical assistance, education, or facilitation to healthcare teams and leaders.
  • Experience working in remote or geographically dispersed healthcare settings.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a fully remote position requiring reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated home workspace.

Travel is an important part of this role. Moderate travel, primarily throughout California and the Southwest United States, is required to visit Tribal health clinics, hospitals, and healthcare facilities to provide onsite training, technical assistance, relationship building, and healthcare quality improvement support. Additional travel may include conferences, meetings, and collaborative events.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
