The Career Opportunity:
Location: San Diego, CA | Hybrid (3 days/week in office)

We are seeking a Senior FP&A Manager to serve as the strategic finance lead for one or more of our healthcare verticals. In this highly visible role, you’ll function as the CFO for your business unit — embedded with product, strategy, and go-to-market leaders to drive sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.

You will own the vertical’s financial strategy, long-range planning, and performance analysis, and you’ll play a critical role in shaping business direction through data-driven insights. This role is ideal for a senior finance professional with deep SaaS experience, proven business partnering skills, and a track record of influencing executives. While initially an individual contributor role, it is designed to evolve into team leadership responsibilities.

Areas of Accountability:
 Business Unit Finance Leadership
  • Serve as the primary senior finance leader for assigned healthcare vertical(s) and/or defined functional departments.
  • Lead financial forecasting, planning, and executive-level reporting for the vertical.
  • Own P&L accountability, driving variance analysis, trend identification, and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop deep insight into vertical-level product economics, margin structures, and key drivers.
  • Partner closely with vertical leadership, product owners, GTM executives, and G&A leaders to align strategies with financial objectives.
  • Present actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership, including C-suite stakeholders.
Strategic & Product Support
  • Partner with product and strategy teams to inform roadmap decisions and assess business impact.
  • Lead advanced financial modeling for new offerings, monetization initiatives, and market expansion opportunities.
  • Influence capital allocation, investment prioritization, and resource planning decisions at the senior level.
Go-to-Market & SaaS Metrics Ownership
  • Lead analysis and improvement of critical SaaS metrics such as:
    • SaaS Magic Number
    • Marketing Efficiency Ratio (MER)
    • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
    • Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
    • Time to Value (Bookings to Billings)
  • Partner with revenue leadership to shape pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies to optimize revenue and profitability.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Drive advanced customer-level, cohort, and retention analytics to identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews with vertical executives.
  • Enable self-service reporting and insights through Power BI, Tableau, and SQL-based solutions.
Process & Infrastructure Leadership
  • Lead the evolution of financial systems, planning workflows, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain scalable long-range planning and forecasting models (Adaptive Insights, Excel).
  • Deliver Board- and investor-ready presentations highlighting vertical-level performance and strategic priorities.

Competencies for Success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with significant time spent in SaaS or technology environments.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executives and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong grasp of FP&A best practices, advanced financial modeling, and operational KPI analysis.
  • Proficient in SQL, Power BI, and Tableau; experienced with ERP/EPM tools like NetSuite and Adaptive Insights.
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Self-directed leader with exceptional prioritization, executive communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven track record of process ownership, infrastructure improvement, and scaling financial operations."

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
