A Day in the LifeThe Senior Financial Analyst collaborates across a host of functions including the Chief Accounting Office, Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, HR, and Legal to ensure that external financial reporting is accurate, consistent, and compliant. This position provides strong visibility within the controllership organization and offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in public-company reporting and contribute to the organization’s continued advancement in reporting maturity post-separation.
This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

This position is preferred to be an onsite role at our Minneapolis, MN or Northridge, CA sites. Open to remote as well.

Reporting to the Director of External Reporting & Technical Accounting, this role plays an integral role in the company’s SEC and external reporting processes, contributing to the preparation, analysis, and delivery of high-quality public filings and related disclosures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation, analysis, and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A

  • Perform detailed tie-outs, reconciliations, and consistency checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of disclosures

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly earnings release materials and other external reporting deliverables

  • Support external audit requests and reviews by providing clear documentation and timely responses to audit inquiries

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, improve reporting processes, and strengthen disclosure controls

  • Support ongoing process improvement and readiness efforts related to evolving accounting and SEC requirements

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years experience as financial analyst, accounting, business analyst or other relevant field.

OR

Advanced Degree and 2+ years experience as financial analyst, accounting, business analyst or other relevant field.

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in external financial reporting within a public company and/or Big 4 environment

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and financial statement preparation

  • Experience supporting Form 10-K and 10-Q filings and related financial deliverables

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate financial and accounting information clearly across diverse audiences

  • Working knowledge of financial consolidation and reporting systems (e.g., OneStream, Workiva)

  • Experience working in a newly public or transformation-driven environment

  • CPA or MBA preferred

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$85,600.00 - $128,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
