Job Summary:

We are looking for a driven, analytically strong Senior Financial Analyst to join our GTM Finance & Strategy team at OpenGov. Our Finance & Strategy team is a strategic thought partner to the business. You'll be embedded in the business, working directly with GTM leaders and building the analytical foundation that drives how we sell, deploy, retain, and grow.

This role is designed for someone early in their career who is hungry, moves fast, and wants to grow into a strategic finance leader. You'll get direct exposure to executive stakeholders. If you have the smarts and the drive, the ceiling is high. This position is in office at our San Francisco HQ and reports to the Director, GTM Finance & Strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure that track GTM performance across revenue, spend, and operational efficiency

  • Support quarterly and annual planning cycles: bottoms-up revenue forecasts, headcount modeling, and budget development in close partnership with GTM leadership

  • Own budget vs. actual analysis and business commentary for your GTM segment - explain what happened, why it happened, and what we should do about it

  • Conduct analysis on key GTM financial drivers - pipeline coverage, rep capacity / productivity, churn, PS delivery efficiency, and distill findings into clear, actionable narratives

  • Collaborate with RevOps, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure data integrity and alignment between operational metrics and financial results. Maintain critical reporting infrastructure (e.g. Snowflake ARR reporting model)

  • Draft memos and slides that communicate complex findings simply - for audiences ranging from your direct manager to the CFO

  • Contribute to ad-hoc strategic projects as priorities evolve; things move fast and you'll be asked to flex

  • Learn the business deeply - understand not just the numbers but the operational and commercial context behind them

Requirements and Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field

  • 2 - 4 years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or a high-growth SaaS environment

  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills; comfortable building from scratch, not just editing existing models

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - write clearly, present confidently, and make complex points simple to understand

  • Intellectual curiosity and a bias toward structure: you see a messy problem and want to organize it, not avoid it

  • Willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and iterate quickly

  • High ownership mentality - you follow through, you flag issues early, and you don't wait to be told what to do next

  • Actively uses AI tools to simplify and accelerate your work - you're curious about what's possible and look for ways to do more with less

Compensation:

San Francisco, CA: $125,000 - $135,000

On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.

The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
