Senior Manager Engineering. Schwan’s Shared Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Schwan’s Company, seeks a Senior Manager Engineering in La Palma, California. Responsible for overseeing plant capital project development and execution of capital projects (e.g. repair & maintenance, critical infrastructure, EHS/food safety) across company’s manufacturing facilities. This role provides project engineering concepts, scope, metrics, and execution plans for assigned projects to leadership team. Working in partnership with the plant leadership teams, lead the preparation, prioritization and execution of the annual consolidated capital plan for the plants. Reports to (and liaises regularly) with the Strategic Projects Engineering function to ensure adherence to engineering standards and processes, access to technical resources and support, and schedule/budget management, including risk mitigation. Oversee plant capital project development and execution at company’s factories. Work with Plant Engineers/Site Directors on scoping, budget estimates, schedule development, construction plans, cash flow projections, downtime planning/risk mitigation, etc. Act as a gatekeeper for capital approval requests from the plants. Provide coaching/guidance on vendor selection, engineering standards, resource planning, etc. Review project scope, costs and timing to assure quality execution of plant led and corporate led projects. Direct overarching alignment with operating teams (production, maintenance, sanitation, HR, logistics). Directly manage critical site projects as assigned by VP Engineering. Responsible for project coordination, execution, and adherence to Capacity Analysis Report (CAR) deliverables. Leverage strong knowledge of R&D technology development team, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), & FSQ (Food Safety and Quality) to assure full cross-functional alignment. Collaborate with VP Engineering in monthly reviews on capital allocation and accounts payable performance to plan. Oversee cash flow projections and project closeouts/SAP PMO (Systems Applications and Product Project Management Office) etc. with the plants. Recommend external engineering, contractor support and oversee execution performance led by Plant Engineers. Assure external contractor conformance to all site EHS and regulatory procedures (hot work permits, hazard analysis, Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP), etc.). Support Site Director to hire and develop local engineering talent. Advise Site Director observations for talent review process. Assure Plant Engineer adherence to Project Management best practices. Collaborate with Site Director on risk mitigation. Provide project details (cost, schedule, design) to VP Engineering as needed for the annual capital planning process. Support prioritization process for capital allocation. Support the corporate mission and purpose by demonstrated adoption within role. Other duties, as assigned. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the U.S. Requirements - Education: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. Experience: For candidates with the qualifying bachelor’s degree - six years of experience as a Plant Management Engineer or Plant Management Senior Engineer at a food manufacturer and distributor. Six years of experience identifying manufacturing food process improvements for a food manufacturer and distributor. Five years of experience as a Plant Engineer, Plant Management Engineer, Plant Management Senior Engineer, Process Engineer or similar position in process engineering, testing, commissioning and maintaining process operations. All experience can be gained in the same six-year period. The salary for this position has a range of $142,355 to $178,000. Travel domestically up to 50% of the time to other Schwan's and Schwan's affiliate manufacturing sites, vendor facilities and construction sites. Work from home, one day a week, in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California area is permitted but not required. Interested candidates should apply on-line at www.schwansjobs.com.
