About Craft:

Craft is the leader in supplier risk intelligence, enabling enterprises to discover, evaluate, and continuously monitor their suppliers at scale. Our unique, proprietary data platform tracks real-time signals on millions of companies globally, delivering best-in-class monitoring and insight into global supply chains. Our customers include Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, SMEs, and global service platforms. Through our configurable Software-as-a-Service portal, our customers can monitor any company they work with and execute critical actions in real-time. We’ve developed distribution partnerships with some of the largest integrators and software platforms globally.

We are a post-Series B high-growth technology company backed by top-tier investors in Silicon Valley and Europe, headquartered in San Francisco with hubs in Seattle and London. We support remote and hybrid work, with team members across North America, Canada, and Europe.

We're looking for innovative and driven people passionate about building the future of Enterprise Intelligence to join our growing team!

About the Role:

Craft is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Core Services team responsible for owning, shaping, and building key features and products used by our customers to do risk due diligence on their suppliers.

The Core Services team(s), aka Discovery and Evaluation or D&E, is growing and covering areas of the business that enable our customers and partners to deepen their risk assessment of either potential suppliers or existing ones. This work covers the full stack from data ingestion and pipeline building to front-end Portal capability that our users interact with.

This role is supported by an amazing product manager, where the two of you will partner to deliver on our mission, and together you have the ownership and authority of a strategy based roadmap.

The team has members in the US and Poland. This is a remote role, but we have a strong preference for candidates based in Eastern or Central time zones due to the current team members’ time zones.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead up to two globally distributed teams with members in the US, Poland, and possibly LATAM.

  • Work closely with your Product Manager counterpart, defining and aligning on priority and execution.

  • Recruit and retain top talent, leading with empathy and accountability.

  • Build a culture of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes, and use metrics to track progress.

  • Help lead and contribute to engineering-wide initiatives with your engineering leadership colleagues.

  • Lead your team(s) to build beautiful, well-tested code by being a sounding board for design reviews, spot checking PRs, improving coding convention, and adherence to coding best practice through healthy engagement.

  • Have unlimited opportunity for taking ownership of areas with increasing scope, and for technical and leadership growth.

Our current technology stack:

  • Applications: React, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, Apollo

  • AWS Services: Batch, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis, Kafka, and others.

  • Data Pipelines: Python, SQL, Pandas, Dask, aws-data-wrangler, Papermill, Airflow, Prefect

  • Data Storage: Databricks, RDS / Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, AWS S3

Who You Are:

  • Have a proven successful track record of leading and empowering software development teams for SaaS products.

  • Have experience and a desire to lead teams towards delivering value that’s meaningful for the business.

  • 3+ years leading software engineering teams, with a solid career as a professional developer prior.

  • You have a good understanding that partnering with the business to deliver real value is a key motivator for keeping your teams happy and healthy.

  • You practice radical responsibility and accountability, with a positive attitude, and a strong emphasis of keeping your teams from getting blocked.

  • Show curiosity through asking questions, digging into new technologies, and always trying to grow.

  • Strong team player, great listener, able to facilitate discussion and assimilate diverse opinions towards clear decisions.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary starting at $190,000 USD/ year. This starting number can be increased based on levels of expertise, location, cost of living, taxes, market experience, etc.

  • Equity at a well-funded, fast-growing startup

  • Unlimited vacation time so you can take what you need, when you need it

  • 99% covered Health + Dental + Vision insurance for employees and dependents

  • 401K through Empower with options to invest how you want it

A Note to Candidates:

We are an equal opportunity employer who values and encourages diversity, equity and belonging at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, caste, or disability status.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women, communities of color and historically underrepresented talent are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Craft, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we strongly encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
