Job Description SummaryLead a portfolio of Americas Project Engineering projects with a team of Gas Turbine and Generator engineers in the execution of Gas Turbine & Generator scope. This team represents a simplified regional organization to enable faster decision making closer to the customer. Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for project implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is high autonomy within the role with fast pace of execution. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects. Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors.
  • Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires significant experience in the Gas Turbine or Generator Engineering/Technology and/or Customer Project Engineering.
  • Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years of experience in design engineering or project engineering capacity.

Desired Characteristics

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical engineering is highly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
