Job Description:

The Sr. Engineer II, Enterprise Intelligent Automation delivers and supports complex, end-to-end intelligent automation (IA), Agentic AI, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions across the enterprise. Operating with increasing independence and judgment, this role integrates standard workflow frameworks with advanced Cognitive AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and document processing engines to scale the organization's digital workforce, drive operational efficiency, and solve multi-factor business challenges.
  • Architect, configure, develop, and test production-grade Intelligent Automation (IA) and Agentic AI solutions by integrating generative AI tools and developer APIs (e.g., Google Gemini, Claude) with enterprise workflow platforms (e.g., N8N, Decisions, UiPath REFramework) to deliver highly reusable and maintainable automation assets.
  • Design, deploy, and support next-generation Agentic Automation workflows utilizing multi-agent collaboration, dynamic planning, and contextual reasoning with robust guardrails to handle non-deterministic and complex operational scenarios.
  • Provide technical consultation and conduct detailed feasibility studies on incoming automation requests from business units, recommending optimal automation patterns (e.g., deterministic RPA vs. Intelligent Document Processing vs. Agentic workflows) to ensure optimal solution design.
  • Partner with IT Security, Cloud Platform teams, and system administrators to maintain, scale, and secure virtual worker environments, orchestration instances, and API connectors in compliance with enterprise security baselines.
  • Lead structured code reviews for peer and offshore developers to enforce compliance with Center of Excellence (CoE) standards and security policies, continuously improving engineering quality and development postmortem processes.
  • Support, govern, and guide citizen developers across business units by establishing architectural guardrails and secure code library access, enabling safe and standardized department-level automation development.
  • Proactively monitor and tune production digital workers and agent environments to resolve complex exception patterns, system outages, or workflow failures, thereby minimizing business disruption.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and subject matter experts to analyze manual process flows, translate business requirements into technical designs, and demonstrate live automation capabilities during project reviews.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in Intelligent Automation (IA), and/or Agentic Automation (AA) development, implementation, and administration.
  • Hands-on experience using supporting programming and data languages, including Python, Microsoft .NET (C# or VB.NET), SQL, XML, and JSON.
  • Experience designing, configuring, and deploying Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solutions within enterprise environments.
  • Experience implementing cognitive AI integrations, custom API connections, or agentic frameworks to support dynamic decision-making in workflows.
License/Certification Required:
  • Advanced Automation certifications or other specialized Intelligent Automation / AI industry certifications (Decisions Orchestration Platform).
  • Advanced Industry Standard Coding certifications (Python, React, JavaScript) preferred.
  • Advanced AI industry certifications (Claude, Claude Code, Gemini, OpenAI Platforms) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of: Enterprise automation and workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., UiPath, N8N, Decisions, WorkAuto) and emerging Agentic AI architectures. Automation design patterns, enterprise architectures, exception handling, and standard development frameworks (e.g., REFramework). Modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) under Agile methodologies. Relational database schemas, API integration techniques (REST/SOAP), and enterprise credential security protocols.
  • Skill in: Prompt engineering and technical configurations for LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT) to perform cognitive business tasks. Designing multi-system pipelines that smoothly ingest and transform structured and unstructured data assets. Guiding and mentoring citizen developers to safely deploy department-level workflows within established CoE guardrails. Presenting complex technical concepts, architectures, and product demonstrations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to: Translate manual, rule-based, and unstructured processes into resilient, self-healing automation code. Independently scope, project-manage, and execute components of larger automation projects from requirements intake through production launch. Define and implement robust human-in-the-loop (HITL) validation strategies for automated processes managing sensitive or regulated data (such as PII or PHI).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
