The Senior Engagement Manager oversees client engagements, maintains stakeholder relationships, manages project budgets, and ensures profitability while leading project teams and effectively communicating across all levels.
The Senior Engagement Manager is responsible for allocating the appropriate technical resources to specific client engagements that do not fit into a scoped project model. This includes prompt support for clients calling with immediate response issues such as a system down. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences is a must, as is the capability to properly prioritize tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
- Understand client business objectives and align consulting services to meet these goals.
- Develop project/sprint plans, define resource loading, skill requirements, tracking milestones, and metrics as appropriate for the framework of the project.
- Be responsible for managing the project budget including managing forecasts against actual, travel and expenses.
- Ensure that projects are profitable and that all financial targets are met.
- Provide consultation based on best practice techniques in traditional and modern frameworks.
- Provide role leadership, in the form of coaching/mentoring and standards enforcement for the project team.
- May be responsible for leading execution teams of 2-20 people depending on project size.
- Persuade others to reverse negative attitudes/behaviors. Maximize strengths/minimize limitations. Consolidate varied viewpoints/positions.
- Perform various administrative tasks including status reports, time recording, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Communication, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7 + years of equivalent work experience required, as an established project manager.
- Solid understanding of various methodologies & frameworks (PMBOK, Traditional, Agile, SCRUM).
- Experience with Agile projects.
- Strong experience in budget development and management techniques.
- Highly effective oral and written communication and organization skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and associates at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to translate and work between traditional and modern frameworks while recommending the best approaches for the client
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team of professionals.
- Ability to balance one or multiple projects while remaining focused on the needs of the clients and project team members.
- Ability to be flexible on type of assignment (industry, framework, team size, scope, length of assignment, and location).
- Strong understanding of technology solutions and their application in business contexts.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A Master’s degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
- Previous experience working in a technical consulting environment or with multiple clients.
- Project Management Certification (PMP) or Scrum Master Certification
- Continuous pursuit of professional development through certifications, training, or attending industry conferences.
