Sr. Renewables Grid Performance Operations Engineer - Energy Storage
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Sr. Renewables Grid Performance Engineer will be integral part of the Asset Management and Operations Team. The incumbent will act as the internal SME focused on optimization, reliability, and performance engineering initiatives across the portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sr. Grid Performance Engineer / Reliability Market Operations Engineer - Leads the hands-on planning and execution of asset performance evaluations for utility-scale renewable energy projects involving BESS technology
- Sr. Grid Performance Engineer / Reliability Market Operations Engineer - Facilitates performance engineering operational risk assessments that assess vulnerabilities across the portfolio with focus on continuous improvement
- Sr. Grid Performance Engineer / Reliability Market Operations Engineer - Represent the team as an SME on operational performance topics such as Power Systens Eginggering, Grid Market Operations, and Grid Reliability
- Sr. Grid Performance Engineer / Reliability Market Operations Engineer - Works cross functionally with business critical internal/external stakeholders like the commercial, transmission markets, interconnection, SCADA, EPC and energy trading on the implementation of industry best operating processes
- Sr. Grid Performance Engineer / Reliability Market Operations Engineer - Act as a catalyst for changes need to help maintain and improve performance based on NERC reliability and ISO compliance standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering Degree with preferably focused on Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
- 6+ Years of power systems engineering, power systems analysis, grid reliability engineering, or asset management performance engineering experience ideally around high voltage electrical construction or large renewable energy power infrastructure assets
- Well versed in ISO/RTO, Utility, and NERC reliability standards; functional knowledge as it relates to performance optimization Grid operations experience evaluating operational design, performance monitoring, and power system maintenance
- Technical understanding of SCADA and EMS engineering as it pertains to asset based performance monitoring
- Technical understanding of Python, SQL, and Power BI as data modeling
- Experience with energy storage, battery storage, and BESS technologies is a HUGE PLUSProficiency in translating complex technical analyses into simplified explanations for internal management teams and external
- Ability to participate in advance level discussions in the utility-scale renewables, transmission, and battery storage spaceUnderstanding of national energy markets as they relate to environmental permitting requirements PREFERRED- PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO
- Ideal candidates should ideally have held Mid, Senior, or Principal level roles as a Performance Engineer, Grid Reliability Engineer, Market Operations Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Power Engineer, or Asset Engineer
