SUMMARY

The Sr. Employee Relations & Engagement Specialist plays a key role in supporting a positive, compliant, and high-performing work environment. This position is responsible for leading workplace investigations, providing guidance on complex employee relations matters, and identifying trends to proactively reduce risk.


In addition, this role supports employee engagement initiatives by facilitating surveys, analyzing feedback, and partnering with leaders on targeted action planning. This position works closely with People Operations leadership and leaders across the organization to ensure consistent, fair, and effective people practices.

 

WHERE YOU’LL WORK

This position is hybrid. Work from home and come onsite to the main office located in Garden Grove. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Employee Relations

  • Lead and conduct workplace investigations, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations
  • Conduct investigations from intake through resolution, including planning, witness interviews, credibility assessments, and detailed findings documentation
  • Develop investigation strategies based on the nature and complexity of each case, ensuring a thorough and impartial approach
  • Evaluate conflicting information and make well-reasoned, defensible findings based on evidence and established standards
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations issues, including performance management, corrective action, and terminations
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices
  • Prepare thorough, clear, and defensible investigation summaries and recommendations
  • Partner with leadership and legal counsel on high-risk or sensitive employee matters
  • Support litigation preparation, including documentation, timelines, and fact-finding
  • Identify trends and patterns in employee relations issues and recommend proactive solutions

Employee Engagement & Experience

  • Administer employee engagement surveys, including mid-year and annual initiatives
  • Analyze survey results and identify key themes, trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare clear and actionable reports for leadership
  • Partner with leaders to develop and track engagement action plans
  • Support performance review cycles, including process coordination, communication, and reporting
  • Monitor employee sentiment and provide insights to People Operations leadership
  • Contribute to initiatives that support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture

People Operations & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with People Operations team members and organizational leaders to support People Operations initiatives and department priorities
  • Participate in People Operations projects and cross-functional initiatives that enhance employee experience and organizational effectiveness
  • Assist in developing and improving People Operations processes, tools, and resources
  • Support organizational change initiatives through communication, coordination, and employee support
  • Maintain a high level of collaboration, responsiveness, and partnership across the People Operations team
  • Contribute to other People Operations initiatives as needed to support organizational goals

Physical Activity

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20–25 pounds (e.g., laptop bag, forms, mobile equipment)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
  • Must be able to move around an office setting
  • Ability to travel to the office on hybrid workdays, attend meetings, and other events as required or requested

Environmental Conditions 

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and safety in diverse environments
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of established policies and procedures

Technology Use

  • Frequent use of computers, keyboard, and handheld/mobile devices
  • Ability to type for extended periods
  • Competent with computers, email, virtual platforms, and Microsoft Office based programs
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to document, report, analyze data, identify trends, and present findings in a clear and actionable manner

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, psychology, legal studies, or another related field. Must have equivalent years of HR experience in addition to required minimum years of HR experience in lieu of education
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations and investigations
  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end workplace investigations, including intake, interview planning, evidence gathering, and findings documentation
  • Experience managing multiple investigations simultaneously while maintaining quality, consistency, and timeliness
  • Strong experience writing clear, concise, and defensible investigation reports
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting engagement surveys and interpreting employee feedback
  • Distraction-free home workspace with a secure internet connection

  • Experience working in healthcare, social work, or multi-site organizations
  • Experience supporting litigation and working with legal counsel
