Ibotta is seeking a Senior Director of UX to join our innovative team and contribute to our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding. Leading our Product Design, UX Research, and Content Design disciplines, you will own the strategy, standards, and operating model for UX across the organization, and you will be a key voice in shaping how Ibotta builds products. UX at Ibotta works cross-functionally to deliver exceptional experiences that help millions of shoppers save time and money, while building the tools and platforms that power our growing B2B business.

This role reports to the CTO and sits alongside VP and SVP-level peers in Product, Engineering, and Analytics. You will inherit an established and high-performing 14-person team, but there is meaningful work ahead to mature how UX operates at scale, particularly as AI reshapes both what we build and how we build it.

This is a senior leadership role. You will be expected to contribute not just to UX outcomes but to the broader product and technology strategy, bringing a user-centered lens to company-level decisions. You will shape how Ibotta thinks about the relationship between speed, quality, and user experience as the company continues to evolve.

This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

Not based in Denver? We will offer a relocation bonus to help make your move to the Mile High City a smooth one.

What you will be doing:
  • Own the UX vision, strategy, and quality standards across Ibotta’s consumer and B2B product lines, and ensure they are reflected in how products are planned, built, and measured

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members across Product Design, UX Research, and Content Design, including two Directors

  • Establish and defend clear norms for how, when, and where UX is involved in the product development lifecycle, from early problem discovery through delivery

  • Serve as a strategic partner to peers in Product, Engineering, and Analytics, ensuring user-centered thinking is woven into product strategy rather than applied downstream

  • Shape Ibotta’s approach to product development as AI changes what is possible and who can build, including evolving the UX team’s operating model, tools, and points of involvement

  • Champion research-informed decision-making at the leadership level and create the organizational conditions that protect discovery, even when speed is the priority

  • Drive investment in design systems, content standards, and research infrastructure that allow quality to scale without proportional headcount growth

  • Represent UX in senior and executive leadership forums, contributing to company strategy with a perspective grounded in user insight and experience quality

  • Build the cross-functional relationships and organizational credibility required to influence product direction at the highest levels

  • Foster a team culture of ownership, craft, candor, and continuous learning

  • Embrace and uphold Ibotta’s Core Values: Integrity, Boldness, Ownership, Teamwork, Transparency, & A Good Idea Can Come from Anywhere

What we are looking for:
  • 10+ years of experience in UX, product design, or a related discipline, including 5+ years leading multi-discipline UX teams (design, research, and/or content)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or a related field required. Advanced degree is a plus

  • A track record of building and maturing UX organizations, not just managing them. You have defined quality standards, operating models, and team structures, and have evolved them as the business and industry changed

  • Demonstrated experience operating as a peer to Product, Engineering, and business leaders, including navigating competing priorities, influencing without authority, and representing the UX perspective in consequential decisions

  • A seasoned, well-articulated point of view on how UX delivers value in a product organization, particularly the critical importance of upstream involvement in problem discovery, strategic framing, and experience coherence

  • Active engagement with how AI is transforming UX practice. You don’t need to be a technical expert, but you should have a perspective on how AI changes your team’s workflows, what it means for design systems and research methods, and how it shifts the role of UX in product development

  • Experience across both direct to consumer and B2B product contexts, or an innate ability to adapt your approach across audiences and business models. Experience in adtech or performance marketing is a plus

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, balancing long-term strategic thinking with the pragmatism required to keep a team delivering in a fast-paced, post-IPO environment

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to make complex UX concepts accessible to non-design audiences and to influence senior stakeholders through clear, evidence-based framing

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
