We power one of the world’s largest online compliance and workforce skills training ecosystems—enabling organizations to build safer, more capable, and high-performing teams at scale. But our ambition goes far beyond content delivery. We are redefining how people learn, build skills, and perform in real-world environments. At Certus, this mission is grounded in the world of industrial and technical skills—serving maintenance technicians, electrical workers, HVAC professionals, and the manufacturers, utilities, and facilities that depend on them.

As a Sr. Director of Product Management, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of workforce learning and performance. You will set the vision and direction for a high-impact product portfolio centered on technical skills and immersive, simulation-based training, driving meaningful outcomes for learners and measurable growth for the business.

This is a highly visible role at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and execution. You will lead through influence and alignment, connecting deep customer insight, market opportunity, and business priorities to deliver transformative product experiences.

What You’ll Own:

Product Vision, Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
Define and champion a bold, differentiated product vision aligned with long-term business strategy and market opportunity

·         Ground that vision in a genuine understanding of our product portfolio—including our proprietary LMS, role-based curriculum frameworks, and electrical and HVAC troubleshooting simulations—and the industrial sectors they serve

·         Lead a portfolio-level strategy that balances innovation, growth, and operational excellence

·         Translate vision into a clear, outcome-driven roadmap with strong prioritization discipline across investments

·         Ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the full product lifecycle—from discovery to launch to scale

·         Drive enterprise-level alignment across product, technology, content, and go-to-market teams

·         Anticipate and navigate complex risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies at scale

Customer, Market & Thought Leadership
Establish a deep, data-informed understanding of customers, buyers, and market dynamics

·         Develop credibility with core buyer personas—Maintenance Managers, EHS Directors, Training Coordinators, and Plant Operations Leaders by understanding the operational realities of industrial maintenance environments

·         Champion a customer-obsessed culture, ensuring that insights directly shape product and business decisions

·         Lead advanced discovery practices to uncover unmet needs, workflows, and willingness to pay

·         Synthesize market trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging technologies into strategic opportunities

·         Act as a thought leader internally and externally on the future of workforce learning and simulation-based training

Commercial Strategy & Growth Acceleration
Partner closely with executive leadership, sales, and marketing to define winning positioning and go-to-market strategies

·         Own the commercial model for the simulation and skills portfolio—including enterprise licensing, seat-based pricing, curriculum bundle strategy, and more

·         Drive product-led growth initiatives that accelerate adoption, expansion, and revenue

Performance, Analytics & Continuous Innovation
Define and own portfolio-level success metrics tied to business impact, customer value, and market growth

·         Track and improve simulation-specific quality and impact metrics—including learner time-to-competency, fault-finding accuracy rates, and post-training performance improvements reported by enterprise customers—as leading indicators of product value and renewal likelihood

·         Build a high-performing operating cadence that connects product performance, customer insight, and investment decisions

·         Leverage data and insights to inform strategic pivots and long-term roadmap evolution

What We’re Looking For:

·         10+ years of product management experience, with significant leadership experience owning product portfolios with a strong preference for candidates with Simulations product experience

·         Proven track record of defining and executing product strategies that drive meaningful business outcomes at scale

·         Exceptional judgment with the ability to make high-impact decisions in ambiguous environments

·         Deep expertise in product discovery, customer insight, and outcome-driven development with a strong preference for candidates with technical product experience

·         Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and aligning cross-functional teams at the executive level

·         Strong commercial acumen in a B2B enterprise context—including pricing strategy, enterprise sales partnership, contract structuring, and the ability to build compelling ROI cases

·         Experience leading products through the full lifecycle—from concept through scale and optimization

·         Highly analytical mindset with fluency in defining metrics and translating data into strategic action

·         Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to inspire and align at all levels

·         Adaptability, curiosity, and a growth mindset in a fast-evolving, high-impact environment

This position will have a base pay of $180,000 - $200,000 plus up to an additional 20% in annual bonus.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
