About the Role
Lyra is looking for a global senior tax director, reporting directly to the corporate controller. This role currently has a well established team of two and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of international and domestic tax and supporting the growth of our business. A strong foundation in tax, accounting, and business is necessary for the role as the company will look to the global head of tax for guidance and support of operations.
An ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully operating in dynamic environments and should be comfortable with international tax issues, acquisitions and working cross-functionally to resolve issues. The candidate should also be flexible and adaptable as priorities change and be willing and able to work on projects outside of the tax area and should also be willing to adapt working hours to accommodate time zone differences.
Responsibilities
Own Lyra’s global tax function, including leading and mentoring established team of tax talent and overseeing growth of tax team
Own ASC 740 tax provision and global tax compliance and filings across all jurisdictions in collaboration with outside tax advisors
Supervise execution and documentation of global transfer pricing structure
Maintain intercompany agreements between domestic regulated entities and international entities
Own indirect tax including sales tax, GST, VAT and other gross receipts taxes
Oversee US federal, state, and international tax controversy
Partner closely with accounting on quarterly and annual reporting, statutory audits, and documentation.
Advise on tax implications of new product launches, cross-border flows, geographic expansion, and new business initiatives.
Identify and own US R&D credit and other global tax incentives
Lead due diligence on potential acquisitions and own post-merger tax-related activities to ensure tax matters are consistently addressed
Strengthen systems, processes, and internal controls to support growth and increasing complexity
Review and advise on tax implications of commercial terms in customer agreements
Support public company readiness objectives
Qualifications
CPA or JD; advanced degree in taxation a plus
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
15+ years of overall experience
5+ years experience in international tax
Ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, actionable guidance
Experience at a tech or healthcare company and/or experience at large public accounting firm
Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper processes, and derive accounting conclusions
Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage projects/tasks in a fast-paced environment
Experience building out processes, procedures, and workflows that enable sustainable scaling of the business
