Location/Division Specific Information

This Senior Director Finance role has oversight for the end-to-end financial management of our flagship Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry (LSMS) business unit. It is a global portfolio-based business unit, serving a broad range of industries. This position is based in San Jose, California, where the chosen candidate will be co-located to enable in-person teamwork & leadership.

How will you make an impact?

We are in search of a Senior Director of Finance who will collaborate with the Vice President/General Manager to strategically distribute capital to continue to stimulate growth and enhance profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a consistent record of excellence in strategic capital allocation aligned with competitive positioning of the product-portfolio, consistent P&L management by understanding detailed drivers and proactively aligning organization to achieve financial outcomes. This will involve building interpersonal trust and partnerships, and attracting, retaining, and cultivating talent. Understanding of manufacturing operations is a key asset. This role will report to the Division Vice-President of Finance and will oversee a team of finance professionals, while also serving on the Business Unit's leadership team.

What will you do?

CORE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide comprehensive financial leadership, encompassing P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and investment decisions. Lead the annual strategic and financial planning processes, manage month-end closures including reporting, forecasting, and proactive financial management to identify business risks and opportunities for mitigation, ensuring predictable financial outcomes! Drive detailed & standardized financial reporting and business metrics to support sound investment decisions, profitable growth, and financial accountability. Prioritize investments effectively to drive return on capital, collaborate with world-wide commercial teams to maintain pricing discipline and achieve share gain, conduct detailed analytics to efficiently manage middle-of-the-P&L (OCOGS), and ensure attainment of R&D project business cases to enhance shareholder returns.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION: Build, lead, mentor, and develop a diverse global team. Offer exceptional financial and strategic support to the V.P./General Manager and other members of the Business Unit leadership team, collaborating effectively with all other functions. Work closely with LSMS global commercial sales, manufacturing operations, marketing, HR, R&D, and IT teams to drive enhancements in pricing, sales strategies, market entry, new product introductions, business solutions, and manufacturing operations. Foster an environment that both challenges and supports with mentorship and strategic insights. Adopt a continuous improvement mentality welcoming external perspectives that progress the finance organization's agenda.

STATUTORY COMPLIANCE: Ensure compliance and accounting-controllership are integrated into business decisions, in line with company policies, US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Provide finance leadership for the global Business Unit sites and provide statutory reporting oversight.

Education

An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; MBA desired

Experience
  • A minimum of 15 years of finance experience inclusive of prior P&L management experience
  • Consistent record delivering outstanding results and getting results beyond the finance function.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, confident and mature manager, and business partner
  • Ability to effectively lead and implement ideas in a matrix environment and across functional and global business reporting structures.
  • Prior experience with manufacturing operations a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, with all levels of management.
  • Strong systems and analytic capabilities including HFM and Power BI.
  • Must possess a strong set of personal and business values aligned with our 4i values.
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally ~25%.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $210,200.00–$280,200.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
