Are you a strategic business leader passionate about driving growth in cutting-edge defense technologies? Honeywell Aerospace Electromagnetic Defensive Solutions (EDS) business is seeking a dynamic Sr. Director of Business Development to spearhead our presence in the electronic warfare, radar, missile & SATCOM markets.

This is a high-impact, growth-focused leadership position reporting directly to the VP & General Manager of Defense Systems. Based in San Diego, CA, you’ll lead a team of seasoned BD and sales professionals focused on building strong, strategic program partnerships with top-tier Defense Primes and drive commercial and international product growth. Your mission: deliver on annual order targets while developing a robust five-year pipeline of new business opportunities.

As a key leader, you’ll champion a portfolio that includes advanced RF and microwave microelectronics designed forair and sea-based radar systems, electronic warfare solutions, digital signal processing products and Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuits (MMICs).

Summary/Objective

This is a key business growth role reporting directly to the VP/General Manager for Defense Systems responsible for both strategic growth leadership and hands‑on tactical execution, including leading a team of BD/sales professionals responsible for the Honeywell Aerospace line of business located in San Diego, CA. This role will be closely aligned with the VP/GM General Manager for the business and be responsible for both delivering the annual orders target through active pursuit leadership and building a robust and growing five-year orders pipeline. 

The ideal candidate possesses a demonstrated track record of delivering new business growth in the defense electronics market leveraging multi-disciplinary technical, programmatic and product expertise. This individual will have demonstrated ability to work across functions in a matrix organization while managing near‑term tactical demands and long‑range strategic initiatives simultaneously to achieve positive business growth results. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

The role is accountable for orders generation, forecasts, development and execution of capture strategy for Defense Systems, targeting pursuits where existing company solutions add value and new pursuits where IR&D and overarching Honeywell Aerospace design capabilities can be applied. The role will partner with Engineering to ensure that technology roadmaps are in line with emerging customer needs, requirements and investments and ensuring labor revenue attainment    

  • Winning annual orders in excess of $100M; to include delivering upon timing, mix, and profitability expectations during the year through both direct tactical engagement and strategic opportunity shaping.
  • Building a five-year pipeline of future orders that demonstrates robust growth for the business. Closely working with the Honeywell Aerospace Defense & Space organization as it pertains to long-term goals and market conditions.
  • Direct management of a team of roughly 5 - 15 professionals including business development/sales leads and proposal managers.
  • Working closely with your team to provide orders goals and expectations within a Sales Incentive Plan environment.
  • Closely collaborating with others in the business development organization to include marketing communications, advanced technology, market area directors, and BD leads from other principal sites within EDS.
  • A tight coupling with the VP/General Manager for San Diego, his/her direct team, and other functions within EDS & Honeywell Aerospace.
Qualifications

US PERSONS REQUIREMENT 

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements. 


YOU MUST HAVE

  • Proven 12+ years track record in RF and microwave microelectronics component sales 
  • Experience with the U.S. radar and electronic warfare marketplace, to include associated technologies, programs, and leading companies. Experience working with Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, BAE, Lockheed Martin, and L3Harris supporting the Navy and Airforce programs is ideal.
  • Experience delivering commercial and international product line growth from inception to execution
  • Demonstrated ability to balance tactical responsibilities (pursuit execution, customer engagements, proposal oversight) with strategic leadership (market shaping, 5‑year pipeline design, cross‑functional alignment).
  • Established relationships within affiliated industries and government contracting customers.
  • Knowledge of CRM & ERP software (e.g., Salesforce & SAP).
  • The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

WE VALUE 

  • Active DoD/ Secret clearance with ability to obtain DoD/ Top Secret clearance 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business-related field, Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business-related field preferred
  • Experience delivering sales goals in excess of $100M while directly managing teams of 10+ personnel.
  • 12+ years direct experience leading business development activities focused on the electronic warfare market segments including airborne, ship based, and terrestrial electronic attach, electronic protection, and electronic support, delivering growth in Tier 1 and Tier 2 U.S. defense contractors.
  • Experience delivering consistent business results across the pipeline for a program/product portfolio
  • Has collaborated across a matrixed organization, working with Functional Leaders, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, etc. to develop shared goals strategic and tactical accountabilities.

The annual base salary range for this position is $278,000-$348,500 annually and is incentive eligible. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
