The Opportunity

Adobe is seeking an exceptional Senior Director of AI Assistant and UX Engineering to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of cutting-edge Generative AI experiences across the Adobe Experience Platform. In this high-impact role, you'll shape and scale the next generation of enterprise-grade AI applications—defining how our customers interact with intelligence-driven interfaces and workflows.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced, 0-to-1 product environment and is passionate about crafting intuitive, AI-powered user experiences at scale. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to bring bold ideas to life, continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with UX and AI.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the UX Engineering strategy for Generative AI experiences across the Adobe Experience Platform, ensuring seamless, scalable, and cohesive interfaces across product surfaces.

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, AI/ML, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver deeply integrated, user-centric solutions that meet enterprise-grade standards.

  • Shape the broader Unified Experience strategy, aligning engineering execution with a long-term vision for coherent cross-product workflows.

  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and creative engineering culture focused on iteration, design excellence, and technical rigor.

  • Mentor and grow a world-class team of engineering leaders and ICs, attracting top talent and enabling career development at all levels.

  • Serve as a visible thought leader both within Adobe and externally—representing the team at key industry events, conferences, and developer communities.

  • Maintain a strong technical grasp of the team’s architecture and engineering decisions; be ready to dive deep and guide high-stakes decisions.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years leading engineering directors and senior managers in a matrixed, high-growth environment.

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, including significant leadership of UX-focused teams building complex, AI-powered web applications at scale.

  • Proven success delivering 0→1 product experiences, especially within AI, data platforms, or enterprise SaaS.

  • Deep understanding of modern front-end technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript, Web Components), with a point of view on developer experience and tooling.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive user experience excellence through engineering, partnering effectively with product design and research teams.

  • Strategic thinking with hands-on technical depth—you can articulate trade-offs, evaluate architectures, and influence at all levels.

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complex technical ideas to executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • A solid grasp of the Generative AI landscape—its opportunities, challenges, and evolving user needs.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
