Position Summary

The Sr Design Engineer will work in a cross-functional that designs, develops, manufactures, and services Intellihot tankless water heaters, boilers, and other products. Knowledge of building the entire system as well as individual components is preferred.

Build, assemble, test prototypes, and put together the entire system. Hands-on work and prior exposure to castings, sheet metals, O-rings, water & gas manifolds are necessary. Identify, develop, and manage select suppliers with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and evaluate mechanical/electromechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet program requirements by applying engineering principles, including detailed analysis as appropriate.
  • Design and develop new heat exchangers, and modify existing heat exchangers
  • Investigate system malfunctions or anomalies, identify the root cause and corrective actions, and provide technical information to justify conclusions.
  • Oversee assembly, test, integration, operation, maintenance, and repair of products to ensure they perform to specifications.
  • Using PTC Creo, design and create water heater/boiler/HVAC components, assemblies, fixtures, and parts 3D solid geometry models.
  • Distill system requirements into component and subsystem requirements.
  • Specify system component requirements or modify existing products to ensure conformance with engineering design intent and performance specifications.
  • Generate engineering drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerances.  These drawings should be suitable to support the machining and manufacturability of the components.
  • Interface with suppliers and external contractors
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes. For example - BOM, assembly drawings, routers, quality control, etc. 
  • Become familiar with appliance design, HVAC components, O-rings, piping, sheet metal, casting process, and machining techniques.
  • Build and test prototypes, new products, fixtures, or assembly processes.
  • Travel: less than 10%
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 10 years or more knowledge of PTC Creo
  • 10 years or more understanding of designing 3D models, drawings, and specifications
  • Prior working knowledge of Heat Exchanger design
  • Prior working knowledge of thermal transfer
  • Creating and updating O-rings, piping, sheet metal, casting, and machining techniques are required
  • HVAC industry exposure is a plus

Work Location:  Hybrid

Salary Range: $110,000-130,000 per year
