PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $125,700.00-$153,600.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $97,400.00 - $181,800.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.  Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance.  We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees.  Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan.  Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Sr. Data Scientist on BECU’s Retail Analytics team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we serve our members and grow our reach. Your insights will directly influence executive-level decisions, helping us forecast membership growth, optimize branch and ATM placement, and elevate member experiences. You’ll be part of a highly autonomous team that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and sprint-based delivery. This is your opportunity to turn data into meaningful action that improves lives.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead Predictive Modeling Projects: Build and deploy machine learning and statistical models that forecast membership growth, optimize location strategy, and improve member experience.
  • Own End-to-End Model Development: Manage the full lifecycle of business models — from data collection and feature engineering to deployment and performance monitoring.
  • Drive Marketing Attribution Analysis: Connect campaign spend to membership outcomes using attribution modeling to guide strategic decisions.
  • Enhance Member Experience: Identify actionable drivers of satisfaction and set performance goals using custom segmentations and experience modeling.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align analytics with business priorities.
  • Present to Leadership: Share insights and recommendations with senior leadership, including EMT, within the first 30–60 days.
  • Support Data Pipeline Evolution: Contribute to the team’s transition to Snowflake by improving data pipeline efficiency and modeling capabilities.
  • Enable Strategic Planning: Provide statistical data to support goal-setting, capital planning, and stress testing.
  • Communicate Insights Clearly: Translate complex findings into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform Ad-Hoc Analysis: Design and present custom analyses, profiles, and market research as needed.
  • Write Efficient Queries: Use business intelligence tools and cloud platforms to code queries that integrate multiple data sources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with scripting languages (SQL, Python, R, etc.) and statistical software (SAS, MatLab, ML platforms, etc.).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial, marketing, or tech industry.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience using Alteryx and Google Analytics/BigQuery.
  • Experience with visual data analytics tools including Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
  • Familiarity with marketing data systems such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, customer data platforms, Fiserv, or SiteCore.
  • Strong presentation and project management skills.
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
  • Background in financial modeling or P&L analysis.
  • Comfort working in data environments without a formal data dictionary.
