Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Creative Strategist to own the creative strategy behind Thrive Causemetics' performance, promotional, and launch marketing across every digital channel. This person will translate deep paid media expertise into ads that convert at scale, blending creative instinct with analytical rigor to continuously sharpen what resonates with customers and drives growth. This is a senior, player-coach role: you'll set the creative point of view, build the systems that scale production, own our performance-agency and creator relationships, and mentor two junior strategists, all while staying hands-on in the brief.

This candidate will be responsible for liaising with cross-functional departments including Growth, Media, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure creative strategy is delivered on time and drives measurable performance. S/he will have a deep understanding of the paid media landscape and past ad performance, and can translate those insights into briefs that produce winning creative at scale. The ideal candidate is a strategic and analytical thinker who builds systems, owns agency relationships, and drives initiatives without being asked.

What You Will Be Doing:

    • Creative Strategy & Ideation:

      • Lead creative strategy for full product launches, from ideation through post-launch performance review setting the creative POV and roadmap quarter over quarter

      • Pitch winning ideas using a strong understanding of the media landscape, developing concepts into creative strategies implemented across channels

      • Develop full-funnel creative strategy (TOF/MOF/BOF), adapting a winning concept into formats that are native to each platform and funnel stage

      • Facilitate creative ideation sessions, encouraging cross-functional input and championing winning ideas regardless of source

      • Stay ahead of platform trends, AI, and advertising technology, bringing forward out-of-the-box strategies for the team to test and operationalize the ones worth adopting into the team's workflow

      • Define the creative testing agenda, and report its results directly to leadership.

      • Ad Production & Process Ownership:

        • Own the creative operating system behind it: intake, brief templates, QC standards, naming/tagging conventions, and asset governance

        • Own the full ad production pipeline (brief → design/video handoff → review → launch), building the systems that increase output and quality

        • Translate creative concepts into detailed, actionable briefs for content creators, designers, and video editors

        • Oversee high volumes of ads and creative assets to ensure on-time delivery, review, and approval in an organized manner; roughly 150 ad concepts a month.

        • Identify bottlenecks in the production process and implement fixes to keep output moving

        • Data & Performance Analysis:

          • Analyze performance across channels including paid media and email campaigns to inform and enhance creative direction

          • Own the creative testing and learning agenda: form hypotheses, structure tests, read results, and iterate on what wins

          • Define and track the creative metrics that matter — e.g., CPA, ROAS/MER, CVR, hook/thumbstop rate, hold rate, and win rate on tested creative — and report them to leadership

          • Deliver data-informed creative recommendations for BAU needs across all media channels, partnering closely with Growth and Media teams

          • Translate performance data into clear, actionable strategic recommendations

          • Translate a winning concept across different creative formats for creative channel fit and nativeness

          • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

            • Serve as the go-to creative partner for performance agencies, driving creative diversity, volume, quality and own the scope and cadence of those relationships

            • Partner with Acquisition and Retention teams to align creative strategy with new product launches

            • Build and maintain relationships with a bench of UGC creators (lifestyle & MUA) on retainer

            • Lead with empathy, inspiring collaborators across teams and promoting productivity in high-pressure environments

            • Advocate for consistent brand voice across all channels without sacrificing performance

            • Leadership & Mentorship:

              • Present creative strategy, test results, and recommendations to senior stakeholders

              • Mentor two junior creative strategists, supporting their growth and development

              • Help build competency for creative strategy and performance across all marketing talent

What Will Make You Stand Out:

    • 8+ years of experience in creative strategy, performance marketing, or paid digital advertising, preferably in a fast-growth or e-commerce environment

    • Proven track record of translating ad performance data into creative strategies that measurably improve results

    • Strong project management skills with experience managing high-volume ad production pipelines

    • Deep understanding of paid social platforms (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube) and emerging ad formats

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead ideation and influence cross-functional teams

    • Experience partnering with performance agencies and external creator networks

    • Comfortable operating with a strong bias for action in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

    • Bonus: mentoring/managing junior strategists, AI creative-tool fluency, beauty/wellness/DTC category, startup/high-growth e-comm.

    • Startup or e-commerce experience is a plus

    • Adaptable to new platforms, AI tools, and advertising technologies; genuinely excited by change

    • Humble, hungry, and people-smart. You share credit and define success collectively, you're always looking for the next challenge, and you have real awareness of how your words and actions land with others.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
