Job Summary & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years Technical Sales Experience in relevant industry and Expert level technical certification in a single domain and advanced level in other domains.
  • 10+ years’ progressive experience as Technical consultant, Technical Specialist, System Engineer, or comparable position performing the duties of this position.
  • CCIE certification required.
  • Candidates must have a successful track record in sales, preferably in the SLED Sacramento market.
  • Experience supporting enterprise network environments with a focus in any of the following technologies: Infrastructure Modernization, Multi-Cloud Architecture, Security and Digital Transformation.
  • Strong sales consulting experience and the ability to partner with sales, engineering teams and OEMs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, product demonstration, customer service, and presentation skills are required.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Candidate must reside in Sacramento, CA area, with the ability to travel up to 25%.

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $135,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

What will you be doing?

The Sr. Consulting Systems Engineer is a strategic technical advisor who designs solution architectures that align technology decisions with business goals. Serving as a trusted guide, this role translates customer requirements and existing environments into scalable, future-ready solutions. Leveraging deep knowledge of modern technologies, the Sr. Consulting Systems Engineer delivers not just products, but a clear solution strategy and implementation roadmap that enables successful outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive stakeholders by developing a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s business strategy, operating model, and enterprise technology ecosystem.
  • Shape and drive outcome-based solution strategies that align business transformation objectives with scalable, future-state architectures.
  • Partner with Sales leadership and cross-functional teams to orchestrate the engagement of specialized expertise, ensuring optimal resource alignment across complex pursuits.
  • Lead enterprise-level solution architecture and technology direction, establishing standards and governance that support long-term client innovation and growth.
  • Own the end-to-end solution lifecycle—from strategic vision and conceptual design through proposal and transition—ensuring alignment between client objectives and internal execution teams.
  • Author and oversee the development of executive-ready architectural blueprints, reference architectures, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Deliver compelling executive presentations and board-level proposals that clearly articulate business value, risk mitigation, and measurable outcomes.
  • Define program scope, financial models, delivery frameworks, and Statements of Work (SOWs), ensuring commercial viability and delivery accountability.
  • Provide technical leadership for large-scale RFP and strategic bid responses, shaping differentiated solution narratives and win strategies.
  • Cultivate and sustain C-level and senior stakeholder relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and long-term strategic partner across customer and internal ecosystems.
