The Opportunity

Adobe Developer Platform AI Foundations team has the mission to "make software development more joyful, creative, and impactful through AI." Our goal is to revolutionize how developers build software by using emerging AI technologies. We strive to create intelligent tools and platforms that enhance developer productivity, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities while maintaining high standards for code quality, security, and reliability.

We build developer tools and platforms for two main audiences:

Internal Adobe developers and engineers who build our products, platforms, and systems, helping them leverage AI to accelerate development, improve code quality, and automate routine tasks. External developers who integrate with Adobe's products and platforms, enabling them to build more sophisticated solutions with AI assistance.

For this role, we are looking for an AI Engineer to drive the development of our Adobe Developer AI Assistant. We seek an innovative problem-solver who can bridge the gap between traditional software engineering and boldly reimagine it with modern AI technologies. You should be passionate about both AI and developer experience, able to architect and implement solutions that make complex AI capabilities accessible and delightful for developers to use.

What you'll Do

  • Create and implement agent architectures using frameworks like LangGraph.
  • Design and implement data organization and retrieval mechanisms for AI agents using vector databases and knowledge graphs.
  • Develop and implement evaluation frameworks to measure and improve performance using prompt optimization techniques and fine-tuned models.
  • Design short-term and long-term agent memory systems.
  • Mentor other software developers on the team.
  • Work effectively in a deep flow-state environment with minimal meeting interruptions.

What you'll Need to Succeed

  • High level of curiosity and first principles thinking to reimagine software development without being constrained by historical conventions.
  • Deep understanding of LLM technologies and their practical applications in software development.
  • Strong developer empathy and understanding of developer workflows.
  • Ability to move fast and thrive in an ambiguous, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience in building production-grade applications.
  • Understanding of LLM prompt engineering principles and fine-tuning techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience with AI observability tools like LangSmith (preferred).
  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on project experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
