As a Sr. Account Executive – Trail Run, you will drive sales growth, market penetration, and brand presence in the rapidly evolving trail running category. You’ll manage and grow key accounts, prospect new opportunities, and deliver strategic, data-driven recommendations to strengthen Merrell’s position as a leading trail run brand.

Primary Duties:

  • Drive growth in the trail run channel: Expand distribution with high-potential specialty and strategic accounts, identifying opportunities to capture market share and increase sell-through.

  • Lead account strategy: Develop and execute business plans for key accounts, aligning product assortments, forecasts, and marketing activations to maximize revenue and profitability.

  • Be the voice of the trail run consumer: Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure assortments meet the needs of trail runners across performance, versatility, and innovation.

  • Deliver compelling presentations: Sell-in seasonal assortments, leading with key SKUs and stories, and present data-driven recommendations for maximizing margin and sell-through.

  • Own the ground game: Maintain consistent in-store visitation to ensure brand presence, merchandising execution, and staff engagement. Support events, demos, and activations that build community and drive trial.

  • Analyze and optimize: Monitor model stocks, sell-through rates, and inventory levels, recommending markdowns or reorders as needed to optimize business health.

  • Build the future pipeline: Maintain a robust prospect list, identifying and converting new trail run accounts in underserved markets.

  • Report and communicate: Provide weekly sales recaps, account health insights, and market feedback to leadership to inform future strategies.

  • Performing duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.

  • Performing other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years in wholesale or specialty retail sales (outdoor, run specialty, or sporting goods experience preferred).

  • Strong relationship builder with proven ability to open and grow accounts.

  • Trail running marketplace knowledge (competitors, trends, consumer insights) and passion for the category.

  • Excellent sales presentation and strategic selling skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experienced in leveraging data for sales strategies.

  • Working knowledge of retail math (gross margin, turn, markdowns).

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

Field sales environment. Extensive travel required (70%).  Ability to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs.

Salary Minimum

$88,776.00

Salary Maximum

$116,518.50
