Job Description

As Sr. Account Executive / Sales Director, you are the primary commercial lead and strategic partner for a portfolio of key Local TV ownership groups, stations, cable operators & newspapers. You are responsible for the ideation, execution, and go-to-market strategies for Nielsen’s entire product suite. In this high-impact role, you will navigate the complexities of the evolving media landscape—from Linear TV to Streaming and Addressable—ensuring that Nielsen remains the indispensable currency for Local Media clients to measure and monetize their audiences.

High-Level Responsibilities:

Revenue Stewardship: Achieve aggressive renewal and new business targets. You will "think outside the box" to construct revenue solutions, license new datasets, and deliver high-impact product pitches.

Strategic Negotiations: Lead the lifecycle of Master Service Agreements (MSAs). You must possess an intimate knowledge of contract terms and fees to facilitate pricing strategies and secure multi-year renewals.

C-Suite Relationship Management: Cultivate and strengthen trusted advisor relationships with Corporate C-Suite leaders through weekly consultation, identifying business needs, and aligning Nielsen solutions to their growth objectives.

Matrixed Leadership: Orchestrate a team of Nielsen Account Managers and subject matter experts. You will facilitate internal and external interactions to socialize methodological changes, measurement updates, and critical audience insights.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Consultative Sales & Digital Integration: Identify and cultivate relationships with Digital leaders at both the Corporate and station levels. Drive adoption of Nielsen’s Digital Solutions, including DAR (Digital Ad Ratings), DCR (Digital Content Ratings), N1Ads and N1Content and Nielsen Marketing Cloud

  • Audience Analytics & Insight: Collaborate with Customer Success Account Managers to dimension changes in audience behavior, address client’s ratings inquiries, and explain variability in Local TV audiences to research and sales stakeholders with some of our largest Local TV customers. .

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the bridge between your clients and the broader Nielsen organization, including Data Science, Commercial Ops, Media Analytics, Product Leadership, and Engineering.

  • Sales Enablement & Reporting: Maintain rigorous pipeline hygiene within Salesforce, tracking opportunities and revenue by client and product. Leverage sales enablement tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator and SalesLoft. Create consistent reporting systems to highlight activity and successes for Local Media leadership.

  • Value Proposition Advocacy: Articulate the unique benefits of Nielsen products across all client departments: sales, research, programming, news, promotions, and management.

Travel Expectations: 

Up to 50%. This includes regular travel to client corporate offices, local stations, and industry conferences to ensure a consistent, high-touch presence.

Qualifications

  • Industry Expertise: 10+ years of experience in Local Media (TV Station, Rep Firm, Cable, or Nielsen) with a proven track record of revenue success.

  • Digital Proficiency: A deep working knowledge of digital advertising, including the ability to monetize Linear TV, Streaming, OTT, Addressable, and Advanced Advertising platforms.

  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing and presenting Nielsen data, products, and methodologies.

  • Executive Communication: Exceptional writing, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to author compelling proposals for C-Suite Executive customers.

  • Operational Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Salesforce, Google Suite, and MS Office. Experience with Sales Enablement tools (SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator) is highly preferred.

  • Academic Background: 4-year college degree required.
