Rockstar is looking for an operational focused Microsoft SQL Server DBA who possesses a passion for monitoring, alerting, and tuning.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s new state-of-the-art game development studio in Carlsbad, CA. 

WHAT WE DO
  • The Rockstar Database Operations team provides operational and development support for critical platforms and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Audit server health, error logs, windows logs, and application performance to take corrective actions if needed.
  • Implement HA-DR solutions in tandem with architects and SQL developers using multi-data center best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server internals to troubleshoot database performance problems.
  • Automate day-to-day tasks to increase team productivity.
  • Setup and configure SQL Server installations according to best practices.
  • Routine patching and upgrading SQL Server installations and FCI clusters.
  • Tune and configure SQL backups to maintain RTO and RPO targets.
  • Participate in 24/7 operations via on call rotation schedule.
  • Document processes and procedures.
  • Provide guidance to SQL developers or architects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and development.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server configuration best practices and internals.
  • Extensive expertise with SQL backups and recovery.
  • Experience with database deployments and source control.
  • Strong experience with performance query tuning.
  • Advanced T-SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of storage, servers, operating systems, and application interaction.
  • Experience working in large enterprises environments with high concurrency.
  • An understanding of relational database theory.

The pay range for this position in San Diego at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.  


Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$89,500$134,300 USD
