The Marketing Manager for Sports Events is responsible for leading the development of national sports properties, large-scale events, and key event initiatives within the region. This role focuses on creating unique differentiators and enhancing the brand image. As a project leader, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to maximize the impact and effectiveness of major regional sports event initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of event execution, including creative development, conceptualization, implementation, and evaluation.
In this position, you will work closely with local field teams, providing guidance and support to fully leverage all sports properties and Red Bull partnerships in the host markets. This includes assisting with goal setting, identifying key audiences and strategic relationships, and steering relevant initiatives aligned with national and regional events held within the region.
Job DescriptionLEAD EXECUTION OF ALL REGIONAL SPORTS EVENTS
Lead the planning, execution, and production of high-quality events for all Red Bull Sports events in the region.
Take fiscal responsibility for event budgets assigned to specific projects.
Identify and recommend sites and locations for event properties based on local market demands and anticipated return on investment (ROI).
Develop comprehensive project plans, manage their execution, and lead cross-functional teams involved in the projects.
Oversee all aspects of pre-event planning, monitoring, and execution processes.
Act as the primary point of contact between Red Bull and local authorities to secure necessary permits and authorizations.
Ensure accurate and effective communication among team members, partners, agencies, and other stakeholders.
Assess, manage, and oversee event budgets to ensure financial efficiency and accountability.
Collaborate with Legal to prepare contracts, put them out for competitive bidding, evaluate proposals, and negotiate favorable terms with partners and suppliers.
Source and manage event production companies, overseeing all aspects of event logistics.
Coordinate with the Media Network and Brand Marketing teams to develop and execute Above-the-Line marketing strategies.
Partner with the regional Communications team to optimize media coverage for key projects.
Work closely with regional leadership and the Santa Monica teams to contribute to the development of the overall Sports Marketing strategy for the region.
Collaborate with Risk Management and Legal departments to ensure all agreements with external parties meet Red Bull standards and compliance requirements.
SUPPORT PRODUCT ACTIVATION
Collaborate with local Brand Marketing and Sales teams to develop activation plans that ensure local relevance.
Oversee the distribution of event collateral within the region.
Partner with Regional Marketing Leadership and external parties to create innovative branding solutions for events.
SHARE BEST PRACTICES
Participate in meetings, including Brand Marketing creative workshops and training sessions, to gather and share insights while aligning strategies.
Identify and share best practices with the regional Marketing team and Sports department.
Collaborate with the regional Communications team to enhance ROI by ensuring effective external communication. This includes creating and managing the distribution of content related to local initiatives across relevant channels (such as viral campaigns, print media, and video).
Qualifications3+ years of relevant experience in event coordination, project management, team leadership, and budget oversight.
Proven expertise in managing high-visibility events and projects.
Skilled at identifying and implementing creative and innovative solutions for successful project execution.
Comprehensive knowledge of various sports and their associated communities on both regional and national levels.
Experience managing budgets exceeding $400,000.
Advanced contract negotiation skills, including drafting and reviewing agreements to secure optimal outcomes with suppliers and external partners.
Proficiency in utilizing diverse communication channels and relevant distribution outlets.
Familiarity with TV and video production programming.
Established track record of effective collaboration with local governments, with a solid understanding of local approval processes and regulations.
Exceptional ability to foster meaningful discussions and secure stakeholder buy-in.
Strong planning and project management skills.
Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Creative thinker with a history of implementing new ideas, evaluating their impact, and refining them as needed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered in lieu of a degree.
Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
Additional InformationThis position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.
The base salary range for this position is $85,360 - 128,040 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
