Description:

We are seeking a talented mid-level Linux Engineer to join our team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in the Louisville Kentucky area and could provide the right candidate the opportunity to be fully Remote in the USA.

This position is an integral part of the AES team in US and the position is required to cover 24/7 operations. This role supports the following work: Security and Vulnerability patching, EOS program upgrades, 24/7 production support for AES, for all BUs and their applications This role is key for Operational stability, and drives Operational excellence.

We will count on you to:

  • Provide Linux incident ticket support, triaging and resolving issues for both internal and client-facing web applications on RedHat Linux, Oracle Linux, and Solaris Operating Systems.
  • Support application teams in troubleshooting issues, collaborating with Linux & Solaris Administration, Security, and Network teams as required.
  • Manage severity level 1-5 issues, assist with Change Management tasks, and participate in routine production issue resolution, vulnerability management, and patching.
  • Implement performance improvement initiatives and support server and application patching efforts across the organization.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, infrastructure diagrams, and FAQs, while ensuring compliance with security and audit requirements.

What you need to have:

  • 4-5 years of experience in Linux-Unix-Solaris System Engineering/System Administration.
  • Proficiency in Linux Middleware support, including WebLogic, Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, and Oracle Fusion.
  • Experience in supporting a multi-tiered web application environment and working across multiple teams, including Development, Database, and Application teams.
  • Willingness to support out of regular hours, including weekends or extended days as needed.

What makes you stand out:

  • A degree in Computer Science or relevant certifications from an accredited Technology Program.
  • IT certifications such as Linux-Unix Admin/Engineer, ITIL, CompTIA A+, N+, Security+, etc.
  • Experience with HP-UX, AIX, and Windows Server 2016/2019 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with F5 Load Balancer and a proactive approach to improving the work environment.
