We’re looking for someone who combines hands-on system configuration experience with the ability to partner closely with the business. This role is very execution-focused—you’ll be configuring workflows, mapping processes, and turning business requirements into scalable system solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Hands-on experience configuring workflows and business processes using automation platforms (such as SS&C AWD / Chorus or similar tools)

  • Strong skills in gathering, documenting, and translating business requirements into system configurations and process maps

  • Working knowledge of APIs, web services, and data mapping to support system integrations

  • Ability to use SQL (or similar query tools) for data validation, reporting, and troubleshooting

  • Experience with enterprise system configuration and basic system administration, including promoting changes across environments (dev, test, prod)

  • Understanding of P&C insurance operations—especially claims, underwriting, or policy servicing—and how systems support those workflows

  • Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and ensure technical solutions meet operational needs

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and building scalable solutions

  • Experience improving processes through automation and configuration changes

  • Comfort working in Agile or product-based teams alongside business, IT, and product partners

Job Description Summary

As a Specialist, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise to inform business outcomes, in addition to providing competitive industry analysis for a product and journey in support of a single line of business.
You will also be a member of a broader product and journey team representing the interests of all business stakeholders. You will be responsible for measuring progress against business outcomes and timelines ensuring the technology solution aligns to the business strategy and delivers expected business benefit measured by adoption of changes. You'll provide key support to the Business Capability Owner, representing the customer point of view while also examining processes and practices to determine how to best support the product and journey.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Analyzes user needs, defines and documents business requirements, validates assumptions, evaluates solution options, partners with User Experience to create prototypes, leads proof of concepts, recommends appropriate solutions to Business Capability Manager. Provides insight for Business Capability Owner to support prioritization of the work. 

  • Provides business process expertise directly or by leveraging SMEs; Conducts current state and future state process analysis.                                                                                                                           

  • Consistently reviews KPIs that measure effectiveness of the product and journey with customers.   Provide insights to Business Capability Manager on areas of opportunity and/or focus.        

  • Leverage curiosity and questions to ensure you gain the right understanding of current process and potential go forward options.                                                                      

  • Keeps up on the latest industry trends as well as customer needs and behaviors.    

  • Continually leverage technical skills and expertise and teach/train less experiences team members.                               

  • Participates in agile ceremonies, daily stand ups, show and tells, iteration planning and retrospectives. 

  • Execute design and development on business configurable tools where applicable in support of operational partners. 

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.   

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/AVP. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

Education: Bachelors degree in business, IT or related field with advanced degree preferred. 

Experience: Typically, 5 or more years of demonstrated experience delivering initiatives and conducting customer research to inform value-based solutions.  Experience executing in an agile environment, product-centric principles and managing mid-level initiatives. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Sound knowledge of insurance industry, agile planning practices and customer design principles. Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and summarize for consumption by all levels. Ability to develop recommendations and influence the strategic vision and multi-year roadmap. Strong business process design skills and ability to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work interpedently and manage intermediate to advanced tasks that span different subject matters. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial. 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.  

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
