We are hiring immediately for a Spacecraft Mission Systems Architect for our Westminster, CO office. The position has the flexibility to work in the office, work from home, or a combination.
Day In the Life:
As a Spacecraft Mission Systems Architect you will design and specify the Maxar Intelligence imaging satellites and space-to-ground communications from an end-user's perspective, considering dataflows and key driving requirements within the Maxar Intelligence enterprise as we evolve to meet our future business needs .
Starting from end-user needs, you will work with Maxar architects across the enterprise to develop our next generation system concepts, with special focus on new space-borne capabilities and how they drive changes to the ground architecture .
You will collaborate closely with mission, spacecraft bus and payload experts to perform trade studies of remote sensing technologies, concepts, and their implications.
You will work with team leads across the organization to craft the key framework and documents needed to acquire the major space elements that will blaze the trail for our next complex system.

In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $126,000.00 - $210,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and willing and able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance at TS/SCI level ;
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field of study ;
- Demonstrated experience in architecture and design of LEO spacecraft and ground systems ;
- 10+ years' experience with space and ground systems, including:
- Familiarity with spacecraft design, subsystems, components, control, and system budgets; and how they affect overall system performance ;
- Knowledge of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and the factors influencing system design for hosting electro-optical sensors ;
- Familiarity with remote sensing fundamentals and principles including data acquisition, sensor types, and signal processing ;
- Knowledge of ground architecture s supporting imaging satellites, including space-to-ground communications;
- Previous experience in systems engineering including identification of driving mission requirements and the management of the requirements through their lifecycle; end-to-end modeling and analysis; creation of tools which give insight into business-level performance ;
- Previous demonstrated experience in systems engineering among multidisciplinary teams, translating technical details to other engineering and business stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with Laser Communication Terminals and intersatellite link techniques, methods, and principles ;
- Familiarity with key image quality metrics , particularly G round Sample Distance (GSD) and related resolution parameters ;
- Knowledge of command and control, planning, FDIR and bus architecture ;
- Experience /familiarity with Spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) campaigns;
- Experience with technology road mapping and business development ;
- Knowledge of RF and or SAR remote sensing systems ;
- Active TS/SCI clearance ;
