At Turion Space, we’re building spacecraft to secure Earth and expand humanity’s reach beyond it. As part of our Electrical Engineering team, you’ll help design and build the satellites that make our missions possible.
As an Electrical Engineer at Turion Space, you will take ownership of the design, integration, and testing of electrical hardware that powers our spacecraft bus and payload systems. You will work hands-on across a wide range of development stages from concept to launch. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver flight-ready electrical systems. This role requires a high level of technical curiosity, a willingness to dive into unfamiliar territory, and the drive to solve complex problems in support of critical space missions
Design and develop high reliability electrical systems and PCBs for satellite devices.
Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and test.
Perform PCB troubleshooting and root cause analysis down to component level.
Be responsible for entire satellite electrical system.
Define and lead satellite harness definition and fabrication processes.
Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and general documentation required for design transfer to fabrication and assembly.
Maintain and update requirements and design documentation throughout the entire system life cycle
Maintain effective communication with all the functional groups to ensure project success (such as mechanical, manufacturing, software, test, and supply chain)
Support on-orbit operations as electrical systems subject matter expert
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
2-4 years of hardware development experience in PCB board design and layout and electronic system prototyping and validation
Advanced proficiency with design tools for schematic capture (Altium preferred)
Comfortable working in the lab with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and logic analyzers
Demonstrates strong technical ability and creativity at a fundamental level
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Strong technical documentation skills
Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
Passion for space and curiosity for electronics in high-reliability applications
Excitement for making systems smarter, better, faster, cheaper
Experience making products or systems work with minimal time and resources
Experience with developing fundamentally new hardware, not just incrementally updating legacy hardware
Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice
Soldering skills on surface mount and thru-hole components
Experience with switching power supply design.
Experience with requirements management
Experience with system verification and validation
Embedded systems and microcontroller implementation and programming
Understanding of analog high speed and differential signal routing
Experience with high performance digital processors, FPGAs, memory chips, or network switches
Experience with circuit board design-for-manufacturability, productization of electronics
