Sourcing Associate, China
Developing our manufacturing network in Greater China, the China Sourcing Associate will identify and establish relationships with new partners, understanding their true technical capabilities, as well as ensuring existing production affiliates are meeting expectations.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with some of the world’s leading manufacturing centers, helping them connect with opportunities in the world’s fasting growing sector for custom packaging.
Responsibilities
Mapping primary packaging manufacturing regions by product
Identifying individual factories and understanding their capabilities
Systematizing these processes
Making first contact and vetting new partners with an eye on quality and efficiency
Creating a flow for specification creation, project pricing, order placement, and order management in collaboration with all internal teams
Building an onboarding procedure in collaboration with operations
Establishing ongoing evaluation criteria
Documenting best practices of operating with partners in Greater China
Weekly check in's with current partners to make sure current orders are on track
Quality control system improvement
Qualifications
Fluent (native level) in Mandarin and English; fluency in Cantonese is a plus
Ability to learn and translate technical jargon in Mandarin and English
2-3 years experience with Chinese factories in procurement, supply chain, or packaging
Flexible schedule to overlap hours with Los Angeles and China
Demonstrated desire to challenge the standard way of operating
Mindset of humility and learning
Detail-oriented
Strong negotiating skills
