About this Team

At OpenAI, we’re here to do something extraordinary: build safe AGI that benefits everyone. That mission demands people who are not just brilliant but also deeply aligned with our values. Our Recruiting team is the gateway—connecting exceptional humans to meaningful, high-impact work. We’re a close-knit, mission-driven crew that takes pride in thoughtful, relationship-first hiring. We partner deeply with teams across OpenAI to find, engage, and support the people who will shape the future of AI.

This role supports hiring across our G&A and Go-To-Market functions—including Finance, Legal, Marketing, Communications, Strategy, Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships, and Technical Solutions. These teams drive OpenAI’s operational excellence, brand, and business strategy, while shaping how we operate, engage with customers, and scale globally. Your work will directly contribute to building the foundational talent that supports OpenAI’s mission and growth.

About this Role

We’re seeking an experienced sourcer to own top-of-funnel strategy and outreach for business and GTM roles across OpenAI. You’ll partner closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify and engage exceptional talent, while ensuring an outstanding candidate experience. This is a high-impact role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence hiring strategies, strengthen talent pipelines, and help shape the teams driving OpenAI’s success.

Our team has an outsized impact opportunity for someone who has deep experience sourcing for business roles and driving all the front-end candidate funnel stages. As a G&A Sourcer, you’ll own hiring manager relationships across the organization, identify and engage leading talent in their respective fields, and partner with our recruiters and leaders to optimize the teams. This role reports to either our Business Recruiting or Go To Market Recruiting Lead.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with hiring managers and recruiters to build customized sourcing strategies for G&A and GTM roles.

  • Act as the primary candidate touchpoint from the first outreach through the onsite stage.

  • Build highly targeted searches that deliver precise candidate profiles.

  • Craft thoughtful, personalized outreach to engage even the most passive talent.

  • Conduct talent mapping and maintain long-term relationships with high-priority prospects.

  • Leverage creative sourcing channels—events, talks, communities, and non-traditional networks.

  • Maintain organized, data-driven tracking of candidates and pipeline health.

  • Represent OpenAI at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

  • Contribute to cross-functional recruiting projects and process improvements.

We’re Seeking:

  • 5+ years of sourcing experience, ideally in-house at high-growth companies.

  • Experience sourcing for a variety of non-technical roles (e.g., finance, legal, marketing, policy, operations, sales, partnerships, customer success).

  • Proven skill in identifying and engaging high-caliber talent in competitive markets.

  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with hiring teams and act as a trusted talent advisor.

  • Strong organizational skills and a data-driven approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.

  • Enthusiasm for connecting people to meaningful work and helping teams scale effectively.

  • Curiosity about and interest in technology and artificial intelligence.

Workplace & Location

This role can be based in our San Francisco or New York City office. We are also considering applications to work remotely from within the U.S. If you're remote, we ask that you're open to occasional visits to our HQ when it makes sense for your role.

If you're joining us in person, we offer relocation support and follow a hybrid schedule: three days a week in the office, with the option to work from home on Thursdays and Fridays. Our offices are set up for focus and connection—with adjustable desks, phone booths, conference rooms, stocked kitchens, and cozy spots to unwind or catch up with teammates.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
