About the Company

At K1x, we are transforming the tax software landscape with cutting-edge technology designed to simplify and streamline complex tax processes. Our platform delivers intelligent, automated solutions for businesses and tax professionals, reducing administrative burdens and ensuring compliance with ease. As a SaaS company dedicated to innovation, we integrate AI and automation into every facet of our customer experience. Come join us in redefining how tax professionals work!

About the Role

We're redefining how accounting firms handle tax season, bringing automation, structure, and confidence to complex filing workflows. As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical and workflow expert on every deal, partnering closely with our Account Executives to show prospects exactly how K1x solves their problems and why it's the right choice.

You bring a strong understanding of tax workflows, multi-entity operations, and the real-world constraints firms face. You thrive in front of prospects, running discovery alongside the AE, uncovering the pain behind the process, and translating it into a demo that makes the value of the platform obvious. You are the AE's trusted partner from first call to signed contract, owning the technical win so the AE can own the commercial one.

Your mission is to win deals. You do that by delivering compelling, tailored demonstrations that connect directly to each prospect's workflows, handling technical questions and objections with credibility, and building the confidence buyers need to move forward.

What Success Looks Like

    • Increase win rates and new client conversion through tailored, high-impact demos
    • Secure the technical win on every opportunity you support, removing technical and workflow blockers before they stall a deal
    • Shorten sales cycles by running efficient discovery and delivering the right demo to the right audience the first time
    • Become a trusted partner to the AE team, measured by deal influence and support, and AE feedback
    • Deliver clean, well-documented handoffs so every new client starts with accurate expectations
    • Provide Sales, Product & Marketing with field insights that sharpen positioning and improve the product

Responsibilities

Discovery & Deal Strategy

  • Partner with Account Executives to plan deal strategy, map stakeholders, and define the technical path to a close
  • Lead technical discovery to understand each firm's tax workflows, entity structures, tech stack, and seasonal pressures
  • Qualify technical fit early and flag risks or gaps so the team can focus on winnable opportunities

Demo Excellence

  • Design and deliver tailored demonstrations that tie platform capabilities directly to the pain points uncovered in discovery
  • Adapt demos to the audience, from tax partners and firm leadership to IT, operations, and hands-on preparers
  • Build and maintain a demo environment, scenarios, and data sets that tell a realistic, compelling story
  • Continuously refine demo narratives based on win/loss insights and prospect feedback

Sales Process Support

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert throughout the sales cycle, answering product, workflow, and integrations with tax and accounting platforms with credibility
  • Handle technical objections and help AEs navigate competitive situations
  • Lead product webinars and education sessions for prospects to build pipeline and buyer confidence

Post-Sale Solutioning & Expansion

  • Partner with Account Managers when clients take on new entities, service lines, or workflows, designing how K1x adapts to support them
  • Lead solution design and demos for expansion, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts
  • Run periodic workflow and technical reviews with key clients to find opportunities for deeper adoption and value

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Ensure a smooth, well-documented handoff from Sales to Implementation and Account Management after contract signing
  • Share field feedback, feature requests, and competitive intelligence with Product and Marketing
  • Keep demo assets, technical collateral, and sales content current with the latest feature enhancements
  • Help AEs sharpen their product knowledge so they can confidently handle early-stage conversations

Requirements

Qualifications

    • 3-5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, pre-sales, or solution consulting within a SaaS company; tax technology experience strongly preferred
    • Deep familiarity with tax workflows, multi-entity structures, and the operational realities of accounting firms
    • A proven track record of delivering live demos that influence buying decisions and win deals
    • Experience partnering with Account Executives through complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex systems for both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Working knowledge of CRM and sales tools such as HubSpot or similar
    • Exceptional attention to detail with a curious, consultative, and proactive approach

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SQL, API tools such as Postman, or light scripting
  • Background in public accounting or as a tax preparer or reviewer
  • Familiarity with the tax preparation and practice management platforms accounting firms use

What Sets Great Candidates Apart

  • Workflow Whisperer: You know how firms operate and can speak their language
  • Technically Curious: You want to know how things work under the hood and can explain it in plain English
  • Demo Storyteller: You turn features into a story prospects see themselves in
  • Deal Partner: You think like an AE and know how your work moves an opportunity forward
  • Discovery Expert: You ask the questions that uncover the real problem
  • Objection Handler: You meet tough questions with calm, credible answers
  • Collaborative by Nature: You work seamlessly with Sales, Product, Account Management, and Engineering, ensuring alignment from first call through every stage of growth

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
