About Giga

Giga builds the electrical infrastructure that powers the modern world. We manufacture transformers, switchboards, and modular data centers for customers across the United States and the globe. Together, our team combines fresh perspectives with deep industry experience to solve real-world problems for our customers. We move fast and think practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.

About the Role

Giga Energy is building a next-generation energy management platform to help customers monitor power usage, track market prices, and respond intelligently to grid dynamics in real time. We're looking for a Solutions Architect with strong coding skills—someone who can roll up their sleeves and bootstrap the initial platform using modern development tools.

This is a hands-on role that blends product strategy with full-stack engineering. You’ll own the platform’s architecture and MVP development—setting the foundation for a larger engineering team to scale. You’ll collaborate closely with data analysts, software engineers, and energy market experts to design a clean, responsive, and insightful user experience that brings telemetry and market data to life. This is founding role for the platform team, ideal for someone who wants to architect the system from day one and build the roadmap

If you thrive in zero-to-one environments, know how to turn ambiguous requirements into powerful tools, and can build fast without cutting corners—this is the job for you.

What You'll Do
  • Architect & Build: Design and implement the core architecture of our energy management platform—from backend services to frontend dashboards.
  • Bootstrap with Code: Rapidly prototype features using your own coding skills to lay a foundation code base for the platform on which the team will build.
  • Integrate Real-Time Data: Develop robust pipelines to ingest telemetry, market prices, consumption data, and grid signals.
  • Create Intuitive Dashboards: Build web-based UIs for monitoring energy usage, price trends, dispatch signals, and settlement reports.
  • Enable Smart Analytics: Implement logic for automated reporting, historical analysis, and market reconciliation.
  • Develop Scalable APIs: Design and manage APIs that allow data sharing across internal systems and with external market participants.
  • Prioritize Accuracy & Performance: Ensure high data integrity and low-latency performance for decision-critical workflows.
  • Lead Collaboration: Serve as the technical point person across engineering, product, and operations teams.
  • Ensure Security & Compliance: Apply best practices in data security, access control, and compliance for grid and market data.
  • Support Integrations: Develop integrations with market telemetry (ICCP/TASE.2), metering systems, and compliance workflows (SOC 2, NERC CIP, etc…)
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience (5+ years) building and deploying data-centric software systems.
  • Fluent in Python, JavaScript (React or Vue preferred), and modern development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance and building secure, auditable systems.
  • Comfortable working with time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, etc.) and real-time data ingestion pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Understanding of API design, ETL workflows, and scalable microservices architectures.
  • Strong design instincts—able to build user-facing tools that are both powerful and easy to use.
  • Bonus points for familiarity with energy markets, SCADA systems, or industrial telemetry protocols.
  • A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, can operate independently, and builds with speed and purpose.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with streaming frameworks like Kafka, Flink, or similar.
  • Exposure to ML models for forecasting power consumption or pricing.
  • Familiarity with OT systems or energy infrastructure software.
Why Join Us?
  • Build something from the ground up that has real-world impact.
  • Work with a team of builders solving some of the hardest problems in energy.
  • Operate at the intersection of software, hardware, and market intelligence.

Pay Transparency

The range provided below is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning it includes both the commission / bonus target and annual base salary for the role (if applicable). This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Giga and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include 401(k) plan plus subsidized medical, dental, and vision benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
