Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced Application Modernization Architect to lead the transformation of legacy enterprise applications into scalable, cloud-native solutions. This role will focus on migrating a legacy Solaris-based enterprise platform to a modern, cloud-native architecture leveraging OpenShift. The ideal candidate has a deep background in modern software development and a passion for guiding organizations through digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technology projects from inception to delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and methodologies.
- Refactor monolithic applications into modular, microservices-based architectures.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement modern frameworks and development practices.
- Design and guide cloud migration efforts, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Create and maintain architectural diagrams and technical documentation.
- Partner with customers and internal teams to design solutions aligned with business goals.
- Conduct strategic roadmapping and discovery sessions with clients.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to technical teams across the project lifecycle.
- Oversee delivery milestones and quality assurance processes.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and architectural vulnerabilities.
- Participate in presales activities, including discovery calls and SOW creation.
- Allocate and manage team resources effectively.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading customer-facing, service-oriented projects.
- Hands-on experience architecting and modernizing enterprise applications using Java, .NET, Angular, and cloud-native technologies. Proficiency with Python, including backend service development, scripting, and integration tasks within cloud-native environments.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing workloads on Red Hat OpenShift, with a strong understanding of its architecture and developer workflows.
- Deep understanding of full-stack development, distributed systems, and integration tiers.
- Expertise in application refactoring and re-architecture strategies.
- Strong knowledge of microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Proven experience designing and implementing solutions using Apache Kafka, including topics, stream processing, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in an app development context.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, quality management, delivery processes, and team leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Prior experience in presales, demos, or technical scoping is preferred.
