Data Engineering

Role Overview

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Data Engineering team. In this role, you will partner directly with clients to understand business objectives, architect scalable Data & AI solutions, and lead engineering teams through successful delivery from discovery through production deployment. You'll combine deep technical expertise with strong consulting skills to solve complex technical challenges, advise technical leaders, and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders. You won't simply design solutions—you'll lead their successful delivery while embracing AI-first engineering practices that improve speed, quality, and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery sessions to uncover business goals, technical requirements, and solution constraints, while translating complex client challenges into scalable, production-ready Data & AI architectures.
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor throughout client engagements.
  • Provide clear recommendations on architecture, tooling, implementation approaches, and technical trade-offs, while developing architecture diagrams, design documentation, implementation plans, and technical standards.
  • Lead and own the successful delivery of enterprise Data & AI solutions from architecture through production deployment and guide engineering teams through implementation while proactively identifying technical risks and removing delivery blockers.
  • Leverage AI throughout the software delivery lifecycle to improve solution design, engineering productivity, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and client outcomes while guiding clients on practical AI adoption.
  • Mentor engineers through architectural guidance, technical coaching, design reviews, and contribute to hiring, onboarding, and technical enablement.

About You

You are a client-facing technical leader who enjoys solving complex data challenges and driving clear outcomes from ambiguity. You are comfortable operating in distributed, global teams and partnering with colleagues across time zones. You combine strong communication and consulting skills with deep hands-on expertise in modern Data & AI platforms and engineering practices. You are equally comfortable leading technical discussions with engineering teams, influencing executive stakeholders, and helping clients navigate complex architectural decisions while delivering measurable business value.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Data Engineering, or related consulting roles.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise Data & AI solutions into production within cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering with AI, leveraging modern AI technologies throughout the software delivery lifecycle to improve solution design, engineering productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and client outcomes.
  • Strong consulting experience leading technical discovery, solution architecture, and client-facing engagements.

Technical / Functional Skills

  • Hands-on experience with many of the following cloud and data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering technologies: Python, SQL, Java and/or Scala, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with modern engineering practices including: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and monitoring.
  • Experience incorporating AI into day-to-day engineering and solution delivery using technologies such as: Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Snowflake Cortex AI, AWS Bedrock, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar enterprise AI development platforms and frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications help candidates stand out but are not required for success in this role.

  • Industry certifications across Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP, Anthropic, and/or Databricks.
  • Contributions to technical communities through speaking, writing, open source, or internal enablement.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
