Zerion is building the future of on-chain finance—and we’re looking for a Middle Backend Engineer to help us scale that vision. You'll join our API team, working at the heart of our infrastructure to power new features, solve urgent challenges, and support developers building the next generation of Web3 apps. If you're excited by clean architecture, fast feedback loops, and the opportunity to shape how developers build on-chain, you’ll feel right at home here.

What you will do

  • Develop and ship new features for our API.
  • Triage and fix bugs quickly—especially partner-impacting issues.
  • Build and maintain backend systems powering our API.
  • Collaborate with products to shape features and improve partners onboarding.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to troubleshoot issues, fix problems, clarify technical questions, and drive timely resolutions.
  • Continuously improve our technical docs, and internal tooling to enhance developer experience.

Who we are looking for

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Solid fundamentals: you write clean, maintainable code and understand how to debug complex systems.
  • Familiarity with Blockchain systems, dApps, and smart contracts.
  • Great communication and soft skills—you can translate technical details clearly, both internally and externally.
  • Comfortable owning tasks independently in a remote-first, async team.
  • You take initiative, solve problems quickly, and care about product quality.

Bonus Points

  • Professional experience with Go.
  • Familiarity with multi-chain ecosystems (EVM chains, L2s, Solana, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of API development: REST, token-based auth, error handling, etc.
  • Experience building or contributing to Web3 projects (personal or commercial).
  • Enjoy helping others succeed—whether it’s teammates or external devs.

About You

  • You love building resilient, elegant systems that developers enjoy using.
  • You have the ability to work in multitasking mode.
  • You enjoy learning new technologies.
  • You value clarity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • You’re excited by the opportunity to shape how the next wave of Web3 builders get started.

Interview Process

  • Intro Call (30 mins): Meet the team and align expectations
  • Hiring Manager Interview (45 mins): Discussion of your professional background, motivation and etc.
  • Technical Session (90 mins): Assess problem-solving and backend/API skills
  • Team Interview (60 mins): Evaluate collaboration style and team add
  • Founders Call (60 mins): Discuss long-term vision and your role in it
  • Reference Check

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
