The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to support our Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities (ESPC), Utilities and Tools Team located in Long Beach, California | Mesa, Arizona | Plano, Texas or St. Louis City, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.
As part of Boeing's Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities (ESPC) organization, our engineers develop and deliver software capability to the entire Boeing Enterprise including the Operating System, Middleware and hosted application software development tools for current and future platforms.
This position will provide software engineering management and leadership over multiple application scrum teams providing aircraft interface management tools, DO-330 certification and convergence into ESPC Utility Product Line Families. The utilities software development teams are responsible for the architecture, development, deployment and certification of cloud-based software applications used in development and verification of Commercial Loadable Software Airplane Parts, and ensuring software application availability across 5 cloud run-time environments.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees
  • Works with international teammates and organizations.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 2+ years of experience in leading or managing software engineering activities
  • 5+ years of experience developing software in Java, C, C++
  • 5+ years of experience of In-depth knowledge of the entire software development life cycle process including software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience developing and driving software technical roadmaps
  • Experience coordinating development activities across many different technical and business organizations
  • 3+ years of experience developing software products in a cloud computing environment e.g. Azure/AWS/Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with developing commercial flight software per DO-178 or tools software per DO-330

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Manager Level (Level K): $149,600 - $232,300
