The Role:
This role is accountable for managing a team of Software Engineers (8-12) responsible for the support, development and migration of the Quality Data Platform Systems to Cloud (e.g. Azure Databricks). The Quality Data & Analytics Platform (QDAP) is a collection of processes transforming data required for Vehicle Quality Analytics and Reporting. QDAP is hosted on the Shared GM Data Platform utilizing the same technologies and infrastructure for data transformation, curation, storage and consumption as other Enterprise Reporting Applications.
Data included in QDAP include Vehicle Events, Warranty Transaction Claims, Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Global A Parameter IDentifiers (PIDs) and VIP (Vehicle Intelligence Platform) Data IDentifiers (DIDs) from Electronic Control Units (ECUs). DTC and PID/DID are captured through Vehicle Data Recorders (VDRs), OnStar, Dealer Uploads and Plant Uploads. The DTC data is also combined with Warranty/Claims data and the system provides users with various reports including Warranty, DTC and PID/DID Summary and Detail Reports.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
- Manages engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
- Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
- Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
- Leads team to meet targets.
- Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
- Hiring: Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
Communicating:
- Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages.
- Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities. May include preparing and giving presentations.
Training & Developing:
- Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
- Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
Assigning Work:
- Assigns and manages workload for direct reports. Sets individual employee and group priorities.
Monitoring & Approving GM Record:
- Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data.
Evaluating Performance & Behaviors:
- Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.
Recognition:
- Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):
- 5+ years experience leading IT Development Team
- 3-5 years experience with deployment of systems on Azure or similar cloud environment
- 3-5 years experience leveraging data platforms: Hadoop, Databricks, DataStage
- 3-5 years experience with Data Analytics, Database Modeling and Data Engineering
- Experience with executing projects leveraging Development Operations platforms such as Microsoft ADO or Jira
