We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a world-class Growth Engineering team. This is a highly visible and impactful leadership role where you’ll help shape and execute on our growth strategy through technical excellence, experimentation, and deep customer understanding.
You will support, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers while building scalable systems that drive growth and engagement across Opendoor’s platform. Your leadership will set the standard for engineering and operational excellence and foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
What You'll NeedLeadership & Management:
2+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams, including:
Performance management, career growth, and team engagement
Building and scaling engineering teams
Collaborating with stakeholders to define and architect scalable solutions
Leading cross-functional projects and aligning work to business goals
Technical Expertise (6+ years):
Programming: Ruby on Rails, Golang, Python, Java, C++, and/or C#
Databases: Postgres, SQL, SQL Server, NoSQL, and/or MySQL
Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Django, and/or Angular
Testing: Experience with tools like Playwright, Cypress, Puppeteer
Automation & Cloud: Airflow, Docker, AWS tools
CI/CD: Github Actions, Concourse, Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI, Travis
Observability: Datadog, Splunk, Sentry
Incident Management: Pagerduty or similar tools
Growth Domain Experience:
2+ years in growth experimentation, including applying statistical methods and managing experimentation platforms
4+ years using data and metrics for decision-making, including tools like Amplitude and Amazon Quicksight
Education & Experience:
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field plus 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related role
-OR-Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in one of the above fields plus 8 years of relevant experience
Build and lead a top-tier growth engineering team, hiring and developing exceptional talent.
Support and coach direct reports through career development, performance management, and engagement.
Set and uphold high standards for engineering, testing, algorithms, and operational practices across your team and the organization.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders—product managers, customers, cross-functional teams, and external partners—to identify impactful growth opportunities.
Drive growth outcomes through deep technical expertise in experimentation platforms and data-driven decision-making.
Lead cross-functional initiatives, prioritize engineering work based on business impact, and navigate complex, interconnected systems effectively.
Deeply understand customer needs and ensure solutions address real user problems.
Align your team with company OKRs, and actively keep them top-of-mind across multiple teams.
Promote knowledge sharing and prevent single points of failure through sound engineering practices and team design.
The base pay range for this position is $186,400-$233,000 annually, plus RSUs and bonuses. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits including unlimited PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
