Academic Year Internship Program Details
Program Dates: September 21, 2026 - April 23, 2027
Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.
Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.
Academic Year Recruitment Timeline

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

• Global Video Engineering, Quality Engineering: The NBCUniversal Global Streaming Technology team builds dynamic streaming players and applications using cutting-edge technology to deliver performant applications, focusing on user experience. We are looking for a dynamic team player who is an owner, accountable and passionate about technology. You will be working on high-visibility applications serving millions of users for industry-leading sporting and entertainment events, such as Sunday Night Football, FIFA Soccer World cup, Saturday Night Live, The Voice and America's Got Talent. If you relish having your efforts on display for millions of users - this is your opportunity. You will have a role in ensuring quality of those great products, applications, services, reduce amount of issues customer might encounter otherwise by proactively identifying, reporting, and tracking for mitigation prior to product launches, you will have an opportunity to work with a world class Quality Engineering team working meticulously to provide the best user experiences for the customers. You will have an opportunity to gain technical skills in the field of quality engineering including test automation and continuous quality improvement processes.
• O&T Enterprise Engineering, Corp Tech Legal & Privacy: This team provides enterprise engineering services that support NBCU's Legal and Privacy functions through the development and management of technology solutions, including custom applications, SaaS implementations for single sign-on (SSO) and data integrations, and low-code/no-code platforms. The group owns end-to-end delivery of these solutions, ensuring they meet business and compliance needs. The intern will contribute by enhancing applications through programming, troubleshooting and resolving defects, and supporting quality testing to ensure reliable and effective system performance.
• IP Security & Technology: The IP Analytics, Operations, and Technology team under the Corporate Legal division supports all of NBCUniversal's content globally with (1) security procedures across the supply chain, (2) Digital Fingerprinting of all NBCUniversal owned content, (3) monitoring & takedown services for digital theft platforms and (4) business intelligence services to measure the demand and supply sides of piracy. You can expect to write and review others' code, debug and test, help design cloud and application architecture, deploy to production, and learn about networking, databases, and other components of our applications. All the while, you'll be using modern frameworks, languages, libraries, and methodologies to help us build world-class apps and services!

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 - April 23, 2027.
• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:

• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Basic programming knowledge or beginner level experience on programming languages Core Java or Typescript or Python.
• Knowledge on Test Automation concepts, automation frameworks, automation tools for example: Play Wright, Selenium, Appium, Cucumber, Pytest, TestNG.
• Knowledge about Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Familiarity with JavaScript required; TypeScript preferred.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts required,
• Familiarity with web services, RESTful APIs, and LLM/prompt engineering helpful.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL data sources helpful.
• Familiarity with AWS services a plus.

For Quality Engineering and IP Security - The hourly rate for student interns is $30.00.
For Corp Tech Legal & Privacy - The hourly rate for student interns is $40.00.
