OVERVIEW
We are always looking for talented engineers to experience and contribute towards building Alo as a global brand. As an intern, you will gain insights into the design, development and operations of an ecommerce experience catering to a global audience. The digital engineering team is responsible for providing a scalable, highly performant platform to power all eCommerce experiences for US and International customers. Our eCommerce experience reaches millions of our customers through various channels with most interactions on Mobile web browsers primarily on Safari and Chrome. Our services power our most loyal customers using our Native iOS App.
The Alo internship programs starts June 9th and ends August 1st. Interns will be working 40 hours a week at our Beverly Hills HQ.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and enhance microservices-based applications using Java and Python.
- Work with AWS services (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, etc.) to build and deploy scalable solutions.
- Assist in database design and optimization using MySQL.
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate systems and improve retail operations.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting application issues.
- Learn and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, API development, and cloud computing best practices.
- Document technical processes and share learnings with the team.
REQUIREMENTS
- Pursuing a M.S. or B.S. in Computer Science or related field with a passion for programming.
- Familiar with JavaScript, Typescript or Python.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies – ReactJS/Redux, HTML5. CSS3.
- Understands the difference between REST and GraphQL.
- Familiar with GIT or any other code repository.
- Team player and ability to collaborate to be productive on the team.
- Attention to detail, curious to learn, competitive to collaborate and win and have fun taking on challenges.
- Love for making a difference in Ccommerce with technology.
- Passion for writing good code and curious to learn how to write awesome code.
- You know the importance of the Network Tab.
- You know what a CDN is.
- You are familiar with AWS or GCP and have experimented with S3 or Lambda.
The compensation for this position is $25 per hour.
