As a Software Engineering Director within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.
This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the implementation and delivery of technical initiatives, ensuring that strategic technology plans are effectively executed, aligning with business goals by managing teams, budgets, and project timelines to deliver targeted strategic and financial outcomes to the Legal, Audit, and Corporate Responsibility technology portfolios.
Key initiatives and preferred qualifications for this role:
•Strategic Planning: Defining initiative scope, goals, and milestones, developing detailed project plans and identifying critical dependencies across different teams.
•Cross-functional Collaboration: Using a consultative approach, leading and facilitating communication between teams, product management, design, quality assurance, and other LOB stakeholders to ensure alignment on program objectives.
•Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies to proactively address issues that could impact project timelines and deliverables.
•Resource Management: Allocating and managing project resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and technology.
•Process Tracking: Monitoring project progress against key metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and taking corrective actions to maintain project momentum.
•Reporting and Communication: Regularly communicate program status updates to senior leadership and stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations.
•Technical Expertise: Possessing an understanding of relevant technologies and development methodologies to make informed decisions regarding technical feasibility and trade-offs.
•Quality Assurance: Ensuring quality standards are met throughout the development process through rigorous testing and quality checks.
•Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex technical projects from initiation to completion.
•Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve goals. Lead up, down and across.
•Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and identify trends to make informed decisions.
•Problem-solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex business and technical challenges.
To succeed in this role, we prefer you have experience managing a large team within the financial industry and have a proven history of developing or customizing applications as well as implementing and servicing those applications.

Job Description
  • Directs all activities and initiatives related to application services for an entire organization or for major clients.
  • Directs and manages the delivery of large or complex application development projects. Defines strategies and client needs focused on technology development.
  • Maintains relationships with clients; communicates with IT and business management. Monitors prompt response and support for technical issues.
  • Ensures high standards and quality of technical work. Directs reviews of tools and technologies for improving performance and reducing costs.
  • Directs, motivates, develops and manages the performance of the management team and key staff.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $125,000.00 – $321,750.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
