Software Engineer | Nox Metals | Los Angeles, CA

American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. The next generation of American manufacturing is being built right now. Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it.

Nox Metals is a technology company supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

We need a software engineer on the ground in LA to build the systems that run our second factory.

You will:

  • Build production systems for quoting, scheduling, procurement, machine operations, and material tracking

  • Ship code that runs live on the factory floor

  • Build internal tools for automation, planning, and inventory across multiple alloy types

  • Build customer-facing tools for quoting, ordering, and order visibility

  • Work side by side with operators and machinists to find bottlenecks and ship fixes the same day

  • Own the technical foundation of a brand new facility from day one

  • Coordinate with the Detroit software team to keep platforms aligned across factories

You should be:

  • A strong full-stack engineer who ships fast and ships often

  • Comfortable building systems from zero

  • Cracked with AI tools. You move 10x faster because of them

  • Energized by ambiguity. You figure it out

  • Interested in software that moves real material, not pixels

  • High agency. You handle big items alone and ask for help when you need it

  • Low ego. You will spend time on the floor with operators and customers

  • Customer obsessed. Quality matters because real parts go to real factories

  • Not afraid to work outside normal hours when something needs to ship

  • The kind of person who never says "that's not my job"

This role is full time, in person in LA.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
