We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Core Services team. The Core Services platform is key for eHealth and critical to the success of all major business functions, including eCommerce, Sales, and other customer-facing services. In this role, you will help develop new features for our backend platform. Collaborating closely with other team members, you will learn how to build great software and explore new technologies in AI and the Java ecosystem as we continuously modernize our platform.

You have proven industry experience in software design and development. You are a solution-centric, results-oriented, and experienced Software Engineer. You want to “build what’s right, not what’s easy.” You will work with other engineers in a collaborative environment to improve the overall quality while achieving timely delivery of projects. You are ambitious, talented, and driven to make the team and project successful.

Responsibilities:

  • You will leverage emerging AI technologies to enhance performance, automation, and data-driven decision-making across systems and processes
  • You will stay current with AI advancements and evaluate opportunities to apply them in solving complex engineering and business challenges.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build AI-integrated applications, leveraging APIs, models, and automation to enhance product functionality and user experience.
  • You will work with talented team of engineers to deliver top quality on challenging projects to delight customers and business stakeholders
  • You will collaborate with leaders in Engineering, Product Management, UX, and Design and Marketing teams giving input on what is both intuitive and feasible
  • You will contribute towards establishing development standards & evaluating technology choices
  • You will work in an environment where we move quickly, are always learning, and enjoy a challenge.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or similar field
  • 2+ years of working experience in rapid product development

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have experience in back-end development using technologies like Java and Spring Boot.
  • You have strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful services, event-driven systems, and cloud-native software development.
  • You have proficiency in working with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • You have experience building highly scalable APIs and microservices, preferably in AWS.
  • You have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GIT, Jenkins, feature flagging, distributed tracing, and performance optimization for backend systems.
  • You have knowledge of automated integration and functional testing practices.
  • You have awareness of performance metrics and techniques for backend optimization.
  • You have familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, CodeWhisperer, or similar.
  • You have awareness of emerging AI-driven development practices (e.g., Vibe Coding, AI pair programming, and CodeMuse).

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
