About HouseAccount

At HouseAccount, we’re building the modern home services platform, starting with the handyman. We connect homeowners to trusted local providers and make it simple to book, manage, and pay for everything their home needs in one place. By combining vetted pros, transparent pricing, and AI-powered automation, we’re turning home maintenance into something homeowners don’t have to think about.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own the front-end experience that brings HouseAccount to life. From provider onboarding tools to homeowner dashboards, you’ll design and build intuitive, responsive interfaces that make complex workflows feel effortless. You’ll collaborate closely with design, product, and backend engineering to deliver fast, elegant, and intelligent user experiences that scale.

A typical day might include:

  • Building new features in React that integrate with our Ruby on Rails backend
  • Creating components that surface AI-powered insights or automate actions in context
  • Collaborating with design to translate early concepts into polished, high-performing interfaces
  • Prototyping quickly to validate new user experiences and improve conversion
  • Partnering with product and the AI team to integrate intelligent features seamlessly into the UI

You’ll join a small team that values speed, creativity, and autonomy. We care more about what you ship than how you get there.

What Matters to Us
  • You care deeply about design, usability, and performance
  • You’re fluent in React or similar frameworks and comfortable working with a Rails backend
  • You’ve worked closely with product and design to bring real products to life
  • You’re curious about AI and how to make intelligent systems feel intuitive in the UI
  • You value iteration, ownership, and teamwork over process and hierarchy
Who You Are
  • 3 to 6 years of frontend or full-stack experience at a startup or fast-moving product company
  • Strong in JavaScript and React (or equivalent frameworks) with a good grasp of component architecture and state management
  • Experience integrating APIs and working within Ruby on Rails environments
  • Comfortable consuming streaming APIs and building conversational or dynamic experiences
  • You’ve been a founding or early engineer before or want to be - someone who loves building from scratch and shaping how a product feels
Why This Role Matters

You’ll shape how users experience HouseAccount -  building the interfaces that make powerful technology feel simple, human, and trustworthy. This is a chance to own the core product experience and grow alongside a team defining the future of home services.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
