Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Coinbase is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications Team, which is responsible for designing and implementing modern, scalable solutions for enterprise integrations and content management systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and deliver impactful solutions that empower internal teams and applications.

As a Software Engineer on the Enterprise Applications Team, you will focus on building high-quality, user-centric frontend experiences for Coinbase’s implementation of Contentful, a leading content management platform. You will play a key role in ensuring seamless workflows, intuitive interactions, and reliable integrations across enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable UI components to enhance the user experience for internal teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement high-availability systems that meet enterprise-grade performance and reliability standards.
- Solve complex technical challenges, including optimizing workflows, improving platform reliability, and integrating Contentful with other enterprise systems.
- Act as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for technical decisions, translating high-level vision into actionable development plans.
- Contribute to the development of next-generation content workflows by managing integrations with enterprise systems and ensuring platform scalability.
- Maintain a strong focus on code quality, testing, and documentation to support long-term maintainability and team collaboration.

What You'll Bring:

- Proven experience in frontend development, with expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular).
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
- Experience with Contentful or other content management systems is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with enterprise-grade integrations and workflows, including API design and system reliability.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves:

- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of backend development and system design principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with Coinbase’s mission and a passion for building tools that empower teams.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
